As a conceptual practitioner, I offer an invitation to decipher and navigate my work both intellectually and emotionally.
Both informative and entertaining, I present curated environments, spacial, immersive situations and sensorial experiences, offering a considered, active relationship between artist and audience - interpretation being subjective this can therefore be described as personalised or intimate. . A ‘total’ or holistic work of art.
Although often based upon an aesthetic agenda, these installations are about perception, more than looking, they are designed as multi sensory, integrating other senses and sensations, targeting both emotional and cognitive engagement. A layered, experiential and unique encounter.
The alternative perspectives presented offer emotional and cognitive interactions. In much the same way as the human brain works, I aspire for my work to initially offer a raw, immediate emotional response and to then to engage cognition. A visitor/audience member/beholder is understood as integral, not just spectating but, more importantly, co-creating - not in a physically making sense, but a cognitive realisation and completion of the elements set before them.
