It had been a few days since she’d had any contact with anyone besides her nurses. She had tried to ask them to reach out to Mason, and they swore to her that they did, but she knew if they told him what happened he would’ve showed up. Without mobility in almost all her body she couldn’t exactly do it herself. It was almost a freak accident. She was out on a trail ride with a small group, it was slightly overcast. Out of no where lightning struck a tree, and all the horses went ballistic. Her horse, who was generally calm got worked up once he’d been kicked and at all of the fear in the air. He threw Lila, and in the chaos, she’d been kicked and trampled and torn apart by everyone else. She had a few small fractures on her lower vertebrae, a broken leg, a broken foot, and two broken wrists, and a few cracked ribs. She could move her fingers and her toes, but it was practically excruciating just to breathe. Lilia knew the recovery would be hard, and she knew parts of her might not work the same again. She was discouraged, and she was alone, and she was scared. Until Mason walked in, and he looked almost as bad as him. She smiled and wiggled her fingers from the bed at him. “Hey, what happened to you? Looks like you got run over by a few horses.”
