Shan had been surprised when they had gone to rescue the Crow that they'd end up with two new members of the team, though it didn't seem as though they wanted to work together. In fact, Spite is flat out volatile, violent, a danger to his host...
Shan feels an immense amount of pitty for the poor demon... spirit, he remembers... and for Lucanis both. Neither of them deserve this unwanted pairing, neither deserve the year of torment and torture it took to make them like this...
So when Lucanis wants company, he doesn't turn that down, accepting in a heart beat the second invitation to the cafe in Treviso. Partly to keep an eye (or, rather, Concern's 'eye') on him, but partly to let the Crow know he isn't alone, he has someone there who might be more sympathetic to his situation than most... Spirits and 'demons' are, after all, his specialty.
Besides, he likes the assassin's company... and his coffee. Though at the moment, they sit quietly at Lucanis' favorite cafe in Treviso, looking out over the canals as the stars begin to shimmer along the rippling water like spirits twinkling in the void. He might not see it the way Lucanis does, but his magical senses are enough for him to sense the beauty of it all.
Shan also can't see the eyes of others in the cafe and on the street staring at him, but he can feel them as well. He knows the stares are there. He's gotten used to it by now. His appearance wasn't so unusual in the Grand Necropolis, but those outside the Mourn Watch, he's learned, aren't always so accepting of such individual expression.
Though, he doesn't really care. Right now, he just cares about the Crow before him, and Lucanis has never seemed bothered by Shan's looks. Concern settles itself on a perch above the two of them in the rafters, keeping watch on the pair.
"You're awfully quiet..." Shan says, facing Lucanis though his clouded eyes of course don't focus, like two teal orbs floating against black sclera. He's never considered that some might find his eyes unsettling, no one in the Necropolis ever has, but after venturing out into the world, he refused to conform to anyone's standards or expectations but his own.
"Something on your mind?"
