I'm new to this whole fae thing but how do I join one and is there one near Indiana

To start off, what do you exactly want to join? If you mean a fae court, I always highly recommend beginners to not join a court. A court is not always the best option for those who practice a type of fairy faith or work with fae on a daily bases let alone beginners.If you are interested in fae there are some 101 pages that you can check out these links:

These are just some basics. Many others on this site work with fae and have different approaches, definitions, and practices. Some follow a strict tradition relating to fairy faith while some follow what is taught to them by the fae rather than what is recorded by humans. It's all about what works for you and what works best for the fae you begin to work with.

There are more than likely to have local fae in your area. That is always the best type of fae to contact with in the beginning.

Hello! I'm rather new to faerie faith paganism, although I have read a book about many different types of faeries. Do you have any books to suggest so I can look deeper into the Fae? Thank you!

Hello there! As with any book out there, I would always caution to compare the information you are getting to other sources and be sure to read critically (question everything). You can find some books in the new age section but again be very critical, as one of my reviews shows that sometimes the information is just not that great.

That being said, I would recommend sacred texts, which provides free texts from various cultures, including faerie tales. 

On tumblr, look at the tag ‘fae community’. I would highly recommend Lizzy’s fae blog, which is very informative. 

As you encounter and work with fae you may find local fae that roughly fit some of what you’ve read from others and in books. For example, in Appalachia I’ve encountered local fae that I’ve categorized here, not to say this is comprehensive nor encompassing, just what I’ve personally encountered growing up here.

Some Suggestions on Faerie Offerings, adapted from Emily Carding

Just some of the offerings you can make to the fae include

a bowl of cream or milk

alcohol

cakes and bread

incense

music and song

dance

candles

creative acts, such as drawings, sculptures, poems, writings, etc.

wildflowers

shiny things

planting flowers/plants

acts of devotion to nature

bodily fluids and/or a lock of hair

Carding advises against offering crystals due to modern mining methods, however I obtain my crystals directly from someone who mines them herself a few times a year, so I love offering small crystal points and keeping them around the house.

And as always, if you make offerings be sure that it is regularly done or else it can be considered offensive to the fae. It can also cause some mischief in your home. Similiarly, avoid making offerings/altar for the fae near electronics, as their energy tends to cause issues in the frequency of electrical items.

Hello! I found your blog today, and I love it! ^.^ Anyways, here it is: This is sort of embarrassing, but I started getting into fae and things this morning. I don't know what to do. I mean, I don't know how to bare offerings, what books to rad, or anything. Would the books be at my local library? If so, I can't check them out. My mom list my library books when I was five, and she didn't ever pay for them... I know that I haven't had an experience with fae, but I know that they're real.

Hello there and first of all thank you for the compliment, it means a lot.

There are free resources online that you can read like this one from Garden of the Queen. As for the library do you only have access to the one in your town? If so, you can always go and plead your case and see what can be done. 

As for offerings just start out small with anything, though I have found anything you bake, bread, butter, cheese, sugar, cream, even kid’s sugary cereals are all welcome. I’ve always left a saucer of milk or water out too. I did make a post of some basics of offering too. Also you can cruise tumblr under the tags ‘fae community’ and ‘fae*’ and read. I hope this helps.
