I stand by the theory that the farmer in stardew valley is actually a fae, not human.
Grandpa married a fae (grandma) and she passed down her fae genes to her grandchild through 'skip a generation' genetics. She died before the farmer was born and since Grandpa and Grandma kept their secret VERY well (and the farmers own parents didn't display any fae qualities), it was just assumed the farmer was completely normal. That is until they re-enter nature through accepting their grandpa's farm.
With their magic back in its roots it starts to get stronger. The villagers notice the farmer can go almost the whole day without eating anything but seemly shoves entire plates of food in their mouth on occasion. They always seem to get some kind of power from eating certain foods.
Luis shows them the old community center and they claim to be seeing forest spirits immediately upon entering. Only the farmer and wizard can see the junimos. The wizard has been trying to communicate with them for a LONG time but they keep avoiding him. . . Until they immediately try to communicate with the farmer and help them out. In which the wizard then immediately offers to help teach the farmer magic (after giving them a look), which they are strangely open to and already good at.
Mr. Qi also only takes an interest in the farmer after a bit of the farmer exhibiting all these strange behaviors.
Idk that's just a theory that I adore and I'm sticking with it.
