never read an emily henry book before but after reading your tags i’m interested! which one would you recommend?
this is the highest honor !!! i love all of her books so i can’t rec just one, but they’re all different enough that i always recommend you reach for the one that sounds the most intriguing to you!
beach read has a very prominent grief narrative — both main characters are grappling with feelings of abandonment in different ways and end up working together researching a cult that ended in a mass murder-suicide. it’s such a surprising story in so many ways. it tells the story of having the rug ripped out from under you and then just having to stand back up and keep going. beach read may be my personal favorite.
people we meet on vacation is a non-linear account of two people who met in college, became best friends against all odds, and are now barely on speaking terms. more than that, it’s a story about feeling like you were made wrong, like there’s no one else like you in the world, then finding that person. it’s a story about feeling one of a kind (derogatory), and asking the world to prove you wrong. and it does!! and then you’re alone again!!! it tugs.
book lovers is for eldest daughters. like i don’t know how else to say it!!! it’s about being guarded and closed-off and appearing cold and uncaring because the world demanded you be that way, and then it turned around and called you unlovable for it!!! book lovers is sooooooooooo. i just get her and she gets me idk. it’s for the girls who are kind of a bitch idk what else to say.
happy place is for the delulu girls! it’s for the kinds of people who will hold broken glass in their hands and try to fit the pieces back together and ignore all the blood and the pain and smile and say it’s okay!! it’s okay!! and it’s NOT okay? that’s happy place except the broken glass is actually a relationship of a decade that ended months ago and you didn’t tell your friends and now you’re all at the beach house pretending you’re still engaged to him and everything’s sooooo fine <3
if any of those interest you then GREAT! i highly recommend !!! emily henry is known to me and my friends for writing really, really complicated grief narratives and telling stories about dads that make me SOB so just fair warning for that <3
New pinned post. Leigh has wares if you have the coin. I make (mostly Destiny) stickers, body pillows, emotes and other merch coming soon. Help an artist pay the bills so I can keep making more cool stuff!

it's all good
summary : it's not perfect, but it's all good.
parings : jesper fahey x reader.
warnings : guns, language, fluffy.
author's note : yee!! my first headcanon bitches!!
masterlist

okay, so first things first.
how the hell did you, the most sarcastic and 'don't fuck with me, i'll incinerate you' type of person managed to have jesper 'my face is too perfect' fahey completely bestowed with you??
you have no idea.
jesper doesn't either.
you both just sorta managed to go with the flow and just be like 'okay, we'll acknowledge our feelings'
above sentence is a complete lie.
after dancing around for six months, dodging feelings and playing fucking roulette with the death, you two acknowledged feelings that.
also, nina and wylan won a dozen couple bet with the member of the dregs when you finally got together.
nina and wylan almost cried when they found out.
inej was happy. very happy.
the wraith knew it all along. hehe.
nina and matthias had a bet, believe it or not matthias won.
okay, so now onto the more real stuff??
who confessed first??
not even god knows.
one moment you were in the museum, to steal of course, the next, on your back.
not that way
at least not yet
a guard had you overpowered and jesper saved you. that's right, he fucking saved you. periodt.
that's right, fahey. save your future wifey.
cliche, right??
then he was all like 'my beloved!! hell would have reigned over if you had died!!'
and you were like 'hell is already here since you are here. but i get your point.
'then, boom!! went off like bombs™ by wylan.
you were together.
jesper was practically glowing everyday since you got together, and it's not like you were any better.
it was a completely chaotic relationship.
"did you turn off the stove?"
"i thought you did..."
"goddamn it jesper fahey, you had one job!"
and did i mention loads of inside jokes??
kaz: that's what'll happen 'on this job'.
jesper and you: *uncontrollable laughter*
kaz: ...
also, he taught you how to shoot guns. that was the most perfect date.
kaz's 'precious' decoys for missions, guns, targets.
kaz was furious. steam was practically blowing out of his ears.
inej saved you
kisses. a lot of kisses.
forehead kisses?? yes.
kisses on cheeks?? you bet.
kisses on nose?? you fucking bet they do that shit.
just being couple goals.
nina and matthias were jealous
it was not perfect, but it was good.

OUR JESPER FAHEY Y'ALL
And then he has the AUDACITY to tell you that, "You may be stupid at a lot of things, but you're not stupid"
is no one gonna talk about how much the archer is a jesper fahey song?
4, 18, 41 <3
antonia 💛✨ thanks, you’re the best!
4. What is your favourite book this year?
oh interesting question! my favorite so far is beartown by fredirk backman, but the vanishing half by brit bennett is a strong contender too!
18. Recommend a book to the person who sent you this ask.
i recommend you the winternight trilogy by katherine arden. it has some magical/magical realism aspects that tie in with medieval russian folklore and history. the third book in the series is also such a great final to the entire series. it’s emotionally resonating like not many endings in series are—so so satisfying!! ((kind of reminds me of tpw in that aspect.))
41. If you could read the first draft of any one book, which book would you pick and why?
ohhh.... okay this might be a stupid answer but i’d love to read the first draft of aftg bc have you seen some of the stuff nora mentioned on her tumblr??? like, the first draft was even more out there and chaotic then the final version. something with andrew having gold fish memory and throuples and just general so much more drama (which really says something since aftg is already super dramatic). idk i’d love to see the mess that were the first couple of drafts.
book asks <3
