All good things apparently must come to an end. The incredible @iurishaint is returning to the motherland, and I am incredibly sad to see him go. You will be sorely missed, Iuri. #crazeeburger #ihategoodbyes #youllbemissed #farewellfriend #fairfarren #sparklycake @crazeeburger @sdsurfer1 (at Crazee Burger)
Still not over the end of T
I think the reason why I can't be over the Mad T Party is because it was one of my biggest desires to go and see this show live, with my own eyes, in front of that stage, in front of those talented artists, and I never got to make that little dream of mine come true. However, it's kind of a relief that one day I'll have the chance to see them performing on a other stage, wearing other clothing, singing other songs. And although I really really wanted to see those specific characters, it's the people who portrayed them the ones who really matter. True, their chemistry and the show the characters brought to the performances (those otp moments, if you know what I mean) was a unique experience (as far as I know... I only watched them on video), but their talent remains, and the energy and passion they put into their music is, at the end what matters. I wanna thank everyone who made Mad T Party possible because they not only provided a one-of-a-kind show, but also they inspired so many other things: musicians, singers and artists; including a Mexican girl who loves art and music, and whose biggest idol is the Captain of the Marchmouse Ship. I had to make this post for myself, it's like my love letter to the MTP, and to its fandom. It's my way to let this go, and to welcome whatever is coming in the near future. All of you literally made me a better person, and I couldn't be more proud of being part of this fandom.
Fairfarren, Absolem
So, I got into Mad T Party sometime in August/September of last year thanks to @half-mad-disney and @sheathedormousebae
Through no fault of my own... I fell in love with Absolem. When I heard T was closing forever last month... I was devistated. I live on the opposite side of the country from Disneyland and I never got to see them in person.
So... For the love of Absolem and as a sort of crushing farewell to T I wrote this. I know it is short. I know it is is bad. I don’t care. This is mine.
Katie first met Absolem in late summer of 2015. She had heard of the Mad T Party band at Disney California Adventure and had never been interested until she met Absolem. On a whim one afternoon she visited the Mad T Party stage. Truth be told, Katie had always been a fan of the Hatter. The Mad T Party Hatter, Tarrant seemed to be no exception with his swaying hips and sultry voice. The Dormouse, Mallymkun, and the March Hare, Thackery, also were very attractive, but when Katie's eyes met Absolem's it was a cliche moment of love at first sight.
After the set Absolem came down from the stage, an unusual thing for the real Caterpillar to do. Katie had been pleased when he approached her. She remembered he did not smile at her. She rarely saw him smile unless he was playing on stage and even then she came to learn that it was only an act for him. He simply walked up to her and introduced himself.
Katie nearly wanted to laugh when he introduced himself as the real caterpillar, but she didn't. She believed him. He knew she would. Absolem always knew everything ahead of time. He held his hand out to her and she took it. With a nod to Disney security he led her backstage to the rooms he shared in secret with his other Underland band mates.
That first day they sat in his room and just talked. They talked for hours on end after the final set and long into the wee hours of the morning when Katie finally fell asleep on the plush cushions Absolem had spread around his room. He watched her sleep for the longest time before finally falling asleep himself.
For the next few weeks Katie would meet him after first set whenever he was performing. They would talk between sets and for the last set he would walk her out and they would say goodnight until the next performance. Slowly Absolem became comfortable enough for her to hold his hand while in the park, hug him before they said goodnight, kiss his cheek and eventually he allowed her to kiss him. By the new year she rarely left his side aside from performances.
Katie loved Absolem with everything she had in her. She didn't care that he smoked his pipe or that he rarely showed her any emotion. That was not her Absolem. She loved him and she knew he loved her. Or she thought she knew.
The news came on the worst of all days, Valentine's Day. They were closing down the Mad T Party, permanently this time. Alice, Tarrant, Absolem and all the rest of the Underlandians were to return to Underland after their last performance in March.
"We are returning to Underland right after," he told her on his slow tone.
"You-you'll take me with you, right?"
"You cannot come with me, silly girl. You belong up here with your own kind. The Oraculum does not show you returning with us. It only showed me that you were here for this time in this place. You cannot come with me. It is far too dangerous in Underland for you. Let us spend the remainder of the time we have together contentedly."
"Contentedly," Katie repeated softly, but she wrapped her arms around him just the same and rested her head on his chest.
When his last night came, Katie barely moved to the beat of the music the band provided. She could not seem to hear it. Her only thoughts were how this is the last time she would ever see him, or any of them. Katie felt the heaviness of her heart weighing her down as she met Absolem at the corner of the stage to say final goodbyes. People were crowding around the other band members. Many of them did not understand the last goodbyes.
"Fairfarren, Katie," Absolem said softly holding her hands in his.
Tears streamed down Katie's face. She could not say goodbye. Her mouth could not form the words. She just let him hold her hands and look down into her eyes.
"Fairfarren, Katie," he repeated and gently pressed his lips to hers.
That was the last time she saw her caterpillar. He turned his back to her and just walked away. She watched him go knowing that this was fate, that somewhere down the road she needed these months with him. Maybe it was the confidence he gave her. Maybe it was the security of someone to love. Maybe it was the friendships she had made with so many people. Katie only knew that when he disappeared behind the stage for the last time she did not sob. She let out a deep breath and whispered; "I will always love you, my caterpillar."
