A great challenge presents itself to us: Provide dozens of families with something to have a better life, notably to these houses that we illustrate with these few images. Bring them water, sanitation, that includes better health, more income. 💦Safe and clean Water! @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia are able to help many people, using ingenious, innovative means and most importantly, involving the local communities like these houses and the many people who occupy them in #Mbinudita. This project has indeed started thanks to all of you, all of us, all of them! Drilling of a deep well (more than 60m), sanitation, in a very rural region, without electricity, without water, where families do not have enough to eat, get sick. Distribution, sharing of water for a hundred of family dispersed all over. We are aware that water is one of the most precious goods, without it nothing grows and nothing lives. Indeed, the people who you can see on these ten photos, their houses, do not have any, or few, or else of poor quality and far from their habitats. Indispensable for our survival, drinking water is not accessible to all in the same way, which favour the development of undernutrition. Safe water is essential in the fight against undernutrition. Children under the age of five still die each year from diarrhea, mainly caused by diseases such as cholera and viruses that can lead to death. Here, it is still very common... If they are already suffering from undernutrition then their condition will worsen, the treatments will not take effect because the child does not keep any nutrients and his condition will not be able to improve. Sanitation is also a fundamental step for us, once access to water is established, it is essential to be able to maintain it, maintain it and thus ensure a water supply. This is the "Water connections" program that we are working on here in East Sumba where the crisis related to access to water is raging. Some 📷pictures of our Base Camp in East Sumba -Rumah Kambera-. A place that @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia renovated with their own 🏗️hands last year. A magical place in which the projects of our two legal organisations are created, developed and carried out, one 🇨🇭Swiss, the other 🇮🇩Indonesian. Programs set up in partnership with the local government, the PKK, but also and above all with local communities, notably those in the most rural, inaccessible and consequently disadvantaged regions. Those for whom access to 💦water, 🔌electricity, 💊medical care - even the most basic - are almost inaccessible. But we are here to help, find the most suitable, innovative and sustainable solutions. Within the framework of Rumah Kambera, these are 🧑‍⚕️public health actions, the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and other epidemics, access to clean and 💧potable water, to sanitation solutions (🚽toilets, 🚿showers, 👚washing clothes), but also access to ✏️school, donations of 🥕healthy food that are being put in place. We 🛠️build metal structures there, repair objects, scooters, plan the drilling of deep wells in completely inaccessible areas. It is a 🎩magical place, but in which dreams all come true! Our community 🏡garden is developing well, as is the 💊pharmacy and the health center which welcomes sick patients or patients with various illnesses every day. Notably linked to the malnutrition which is wreaking havoc here, in the regions where we are located. In short, years of work are presented to us! Drilling a well to give access to clean water💦 , sanitation solutions🚾 to an entire community is a real challenge here. But 🇨🇭@fairfuturefoundation and 🇮🇩@kawanbaikindonesia have always succeeded. This morning, @kawanbaikindonesia and @fairfuturefoundation were invited to share their action programs, in the context of issues related to healthcare access and education. Most of the provincial heads of departments were present. All were attentive to our audio visual presentations, but also to our words. On behalf of @fairfuturefoundation , @alexwettstein, explained how we can continue our good collaboration, make it grow, with the help of all the services in the region. The questions from the heads of departments were all linked to the fact that we had to work together. Which is makes us feel good. 🇨🇭@fairfuturefoundation represents a country, Switzerland. Kawan Sehat: The healthy friend. This is related to the few post we published before. Kawan Pintar: The smart friend. This is about this new post. Two weeks ago, we went for a few days in our school #sdmbinudita, the school @fairfuturefoundation And @kawanbaikindonesia built last year, up there, to the top of the highest hill of this rural area of East Sumba, NTT Indonesia. We bring the last 60 chairs and tables for the 100 kids, aged from 8 to 12 who are students in this magical school. Now, they have more than 50 tables, more than 100 chairs, whiteboards, and various other furniture's to store books, notebook (they actually need much more books and things to study). These 3 little movies, taken with the phone 📱 of @goonjourney, from the roof of the truck, show's you how it's difficult to access there. Now we are all used to do the 2 hours drive from Waingapu, to Mbinudita. But with a truck, it's an other story! Go to their home, where nobody hardly ever goes, hence the creation of the “Truck of Life” program, which allows @fairfuture and his friends to go where (almost) no one goes. Where we are active, medical care in an adequate medical center is complicated, scarce or even nonexistent, or quite simply a medical center may be closed for lack of medical equipment, more drugs and lack of technologies adapted to local medical problems. Sometimes a medical center does not have or no longer has access to water, does not have or no longer has access to electricity as we experienced last week. Or there are too few medical staff, if at all. Support in the heart of the outermost regions, in villages, in families is therefore essential, vital! We need to move around, go there and bring with us what we need to care for, operate, but also feed and comfort individuals, families and communities. This strategy can lead to cure rates of over 90% and reduce the need for hospital care for people who could not afford a hospital stay anyway. But as we have seen during our last actions with the 🇨🇭Fair Future friends , it is sometimes necessary for a child, an adult to go for extensive medical examinations to the hospital in the big city, in this case Waingapu. But again, very few, if any, specialists for specific disciplines. So, no other recourse for them than to wait until we can meet them! In order to treat them, to help them, to solve the problems of their daily life. But also, to collect vital information, data that will later allow us to be more effective, to target the assistance provided. Back from two days of surgical treatments and medical/health care in some ultra remotes areas of the far south on East Suman. Working in very hard conditions, but what a great success even we ad no water, no electricity, it was terribly hot and mosquitoes everywhere after 5:30pm. ... All together, we did about 45 surgeries, and treated 200 patients (I've not the exact final number). Such a huge operation from all of us in deed, as to get there (as you can see in the previous post), it is such an adventure. The communities here have no (or far from there house) access to water, no electricity, they're -economically talking- very poor. Also, medical care are not accessible for all of them. This is why we are doing this as often as we can here and there with our friends from Sumba Volunteer. Incredible to see how people are affected in their health! So many fibrome, lipomas (that we removed surgically, for most of them, the others must go to do more investigation in Waingapu. People don't have enough to eat, to drink! It's a tragic fact. For many of them (even all), they suffer from malnutrition, which is present in 100% of the families. We care about this also and we bring lots of food,it's of vitamins, lots of minerals for all categories of people! From the new born, to the older one! It's makes us happy you know?
