Fairy-Drabbles 32: Aladdin and the Magic Lamp II
As he advanced through the desolation caused by his first desire, the terrifying melody born of whining, weeping, screams of pain, fear, and anger, accompanied each of his steps through the now unrecognizable place. Then, the only thing that occurred to Aladdin to help the victims was to ask for gold. "Gold can solve everything, right?" And so he did, desperate, without stopping to think about the details; he rubbed the lamp and before the genie finished materializing, he stated his wish:
“I want wealth ... Gold, silver, precious stones.”
Unfortunately, the genie was still upset. A thousand years alone, abandoned, forgotten. And now he was bossed around because they had their lamp? That insolent brat was sorely mistaken.
Gold and silver coins, sapphires, rubies, diamonds, emeralds and as many jewels as it could be imagined, began to fall on Aladdin's head like hail, hurting him. No matter where he took refuge, the long-awaited and now necessary wealth stoned him until there came a moment when he faded away because of the pain and ended up buried.
