59:what's your favorite myth?RIGHT SO maybe not my Favourite myth but def the one ive told most, today im gonna learn u a thing abt norse mythologyso the walls of asgard (where the aesir and a couple of the vanir live) have been destroyed in a war w giants, which is bad bc then ppl can just get in. the gods are kinda like “o shit what do we do” and then this bloke rocks up (he doesnt have a name in the myth) and is like “hey ill build the walls” and the gods are like “ok what do u want as payment?” and the builder asks for the sun, the moon, and freyja (who is goddess of love, seithr, war, fertility and who is also v v beautiful) which obv the gods are v reluctant to agree to. then loki suggests they give the builder 6 months bc theres no way he can get it all done but at least some of the work will get done for free. the gods are like “good plan batman” and go tell the builder their decision, the builder is like “ok but can i have my horse” and the gods think ‘what can it hurt?’ except then the horse shows up and theyre like fuck. fuck we fucked up. bc the horse is Huge. and like the bloke gets to work and the gods are like “ok well maybe he wont get done in time.....?” except it gets to like the day before the deadline and like. hes gonna make it. hes gonna do the thing and the gods will have no choice but to give him the sun the moon and freyja. so the gods round on loki, blame him for ‘getting them into this mess’ (even tho they agreed to it as well) and kinda force him to solve it. loki transforms himself into a mare in heat and runs around the horse (whose name is svaðilfari (pronounced sva-thil-fah-ri) btw) and then runs off. svaðilfari follows, and Is Gone and the builder dude fuckin loses it, reveals himself to actually be a giant in disguise, and so the deal is off anyway. thor fuckin obliterates him w his hammer mjolnir, and the wall is almost complete anyway, so all’s well that ends well rightand then loki rocks up however many months later with a baby eight-legged horse (even tho we can assume both svaðilfari and horse!loki have four legs) called sleipnir. who then ends up being used as odin’s steed which is a bit skeevy esp since it reads like loki being forced to pay reparations for gettin them into the situation in the first place but anyway
