Fairyfail
dialog #003
just another 'fairy' tales
Hey folks, I know it's been a while since I've really worked on anything, but certain incidents occurred and I sort of fell out of it. Welp, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, so here are two short comics (more like short stories).
Fairyfail by Maya Kern( mayakern) summary: Didn't find an official summary, so I will be using the first line, considering it summarizes the story pretty well. "There once was a girl named Ae who only ever told lies. There was also once a girl named Bee who only told the truth. This is the story of how they found love and, inevitably, lost it."
My thoughts: The story is about placing two real characters into a fairy tale scenario. We have two girls who fall in love in a relationship built on lies and deception. Ae would spin tales of what she claimed her life was, and Bee continued to consume every one. Then one day Bee saw an inconsistency. And it all fell apart, just as things with fragile foundations do. There could have been, possibly, a climactic moment of resolve in the end, but as the story specifies, they were only people, not fairy tale characters.
How to be a Mermaid by Maya Kern summary: This time I'll summarize it myself. "A princess finds herself saved by a mermaid from drowning."
My thoughts: This is another short story in the same collection as the one above. This time we have a love story between a mermaid and a princess. It's a romance that develops overtime, often by the princess escaping the castle. Despite her status, the princess is constantly mistreated, but remains strong. She takes solace in her friend who then turns to something more.
It's a sad story, but also a very beautiful one. Both comics are ones I have enjoyed.

Title: FairyFail Creator: Maya Kern Rating: Mature Summary: A short comic about two girls. One always tells the truth and the other always lies Warnings: Small amount of nudity Submitter comments: I thought the concept was very original. The author also has another f/f work called “How to be a Mermaid.” That one’s a little bit gory though.
the three buttons and postcards that will accompany my anthology, Hearts, Thorns, and Scales! these will first go to those who donated to my (completed) kickstarter and then i am hoping to sell them online and at Anime Detour!
