Opposition In All Things
11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my first-born in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility. 12 Wherefore, it must needs have been created for a thing of naught; wherefore there would have been no purpose in the end of its creation. Wherefore, this thing must needs destroy the wisdom of God and his eternal purposes, and also the power, and the mercy, and the justice of God. 13 And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away. 14 And now, my sons, I speak unto you these things for your profit and learning; for there is a God, and he hath created all things, both the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are, both things to act and things to be acted upon. 2 Nephi 2:11-14 Today is Election Day We have a choice to make choices and vote for the Presidential Election. One can make a choice to choose the candidates they desire for their local state and federal candidates. Doing so brings power, but there is a lot of “choosing by not choosing” which is also a choice. Choosing by Not Choosing = Fence Sitting There was first two choices. Two trees to choose from. 15 And to bring about his eternal purposes in the end of man, after he had created our first parents, and the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and in fine, all things which are created, it must needs be that there was an opposition; even the forbidden fruit in opposition to the tree of life; the one being sweet and the other bitter. 2 Nephi 2:15 I’m guessing the forbidden fruit was sweet and the tree of life fruit was bitter. What forbidden thing would be tempestuous if it were a bitter fruit? Nobody would want the fruit and cast it out being good for nothing. Some individuals are trying to blur the lines between forbidden fruit versus fruit from the tree of life. 8 And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God—he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God. 2 Nephi 28:8 “There is no harm in this.” The problem with fence sitting is one doesn’t have power in themselves to act but rather be acted upon. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/media/video/2012-03-0014-acting-and-not-being-acted-upon?lang=eng The disseminator of information. Inviting learners to act. Inviting learners to act upon that which they are learning to disassemble. Having the moral agency to act rather than be acted upon. To act to willfully rebel in the middle of the fence by making that choice one does not receive granted blessings, but to be spued out of the Lord’s mouth. 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16 Why does God want one to choose a side rather than just fence sit? Because people who blur the lines upon fence sitters have the direction to pervert the right ways of the Lord, and not for His righteousness. 27 And all this have they done that they might pervert the right ways of the Lord, that they might blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men. 28 Wherefore, thou seest that after the book hath gone forth through the hands of the great and abominable church, that there are many plain and precious things taken away from the book, which is the book of the Lamb of God. 1 Nephi 13:27-28 There judgement is to sway the righteous ways of the Lord and pervert His paths by making them not straight.
