So it appears Emma Watson is the “I want both the bigots and the queer community to like me“ type of gay ally. Well, I think any older queer knows that their allyship is pretty much worthless if you’re going to try to make bigots and the people that are being victimized by those bigots both seem comfortable around you then you are going to end up only surrounded by bigots and assimilationist queers.

Not to seem naïve, but I honestly thought she was smarter than this. Then I remember that all she did was just play a smart character from a movie series decades ago.

White women are never going to sacrifice their lives hard enough to change the way Black people, especially women are treated. Never has happened and never will.

There’s always surface level activism happening. You will never see a white woman actually beat or kill someone to protect black folks because your activism stops when your life is actually on the line. Even if you did go that far, the narrative would admittedly focus on White victimhood and White savorism.

Random but y’all ever notice when some allies try to over perform their allyship to you for no reason?

That sounds kinda weird so I’mma use this example:

The other day me and my friends were talking about movies and I offhandedly mentioned that I know nothing about the MCU and the only movies I will ever watch from them are Black Panther and the Spider-Man movies

Then one of the girls I was talking with, who is white, started going off about how much she hates the Spider-Man movies and Tom Holland because he’s overrated, which is absolutely her opinion and totally valid. I’m not saying she’s not allowed to have that opinion

So I said that I agree that he’s overrated but that I liked the Spider-Man movies so much is mainly because they casted a black MJ and Liz they are the the love interests of an interracial relationship which is super rare.

Since I rarely get to see black girls being loved and seen as attractive without being overly sexualized in media, I was happy with it in the mcu Spider-Man movies and by extension, I give Tom Holland my okay

Then this girl interrupted me while I was speaking, and she gave me that whole spiel about “Honestly that’s so valid and I get where you’re coming from since you’re a black girl BUT” and then she ranted about how she thinks that Tom Holland is just another boring guy people only praise because he’s white (which to some degree could be true) and that in her WHITE opinion, only having crushes on two black girls came across as fetishization and made her feel uncomfortable and how she can’t wait for the day someone digs up something overtly racist on him so she can cancel him and I just-

She full on ignored everything I was saying, kept interrupting me, and every time I tried to just end or deescalate the conversation, she kept fucking going off

It literally felt like she was trying to lecture me about racism as if I was a clueless baby she had to talk down to.

And tbh this is a thing that happens a lot, like with straight and/or Cis people talking to me weird when we’re on the LGBTQ+ community or how “nice guys” try to act just so they can get some action out of girls

It’s really annoying and super transparent that people don’t care about any actual issues, they just want it to seem like they do so they never get labeled as the bigot they probably are
