ep 9 cop blackmails Clark
A non Kryptonite infused bad guy!!! Wow!! Innovation! And this story has my favorite Superman conflict which is "Superman can't punch his way out of his problems". These are great because it relies on Clark thinking smart!
PRINCIPLE KWAN IS BACK YIPEEEE
When Pa Kent was arrested and Clark visits him in jail for a call, I felt Tom Welling's acting bloomed a bit there. The Kents are so great as characters on this show. Jonathan's temper being passed down through Clark,,yess,,
I looove the "you may be strong, but you're not bulletproof!" line teasing at that famous Superman ability. Tom Welling was wiggling around like "wuuh wuh is the bullet gonna hit me naah suckers"
Clark gets more depth outside of his crush on Lana!! The responsibility of his powers and protecting his family! Yeaaa!
Just a great episode all around. Jonathan Kent's actor has solid face game for John Constantine I had to say that eventually.
Lana and Chloe's journalism plot here was fun! Even if Chloe was being a tad dramatic for the plot. I didn't much care for the Chloe implied crush on Clark thing but this show is what it is :p
It's as if the show knew it held out on me in the last episode. We are gifted with MULTIPLE CAR DAMAGE MOMENTS. A bus rams into a bunch of cars, the bus itself gets obliterated, and a car gets a safe dropped on it. Counter goes up: 8
the episode does not end with Clark staring at Lana while a song plays. Instead, Lex is getting loved on by his hot gf Victoria but he's not paying attention to her because he's busy staring at footage of Clark lol. Incredibly on brand Lex moment. Counter stays at 5.5
[btw that's a plot hole. Because Lex is staring at museum camera footage. But when Clark is breaking into the museum with dirty cop man, the cop instructed him to disable the cameras. So?? There should be no footage for Lex to look at]
Back to kryptonite villains again! And this one was a pretty "eh" showcase of it. Someone invisible is messing with Lex and it's up to Clark to figure out who it is.
Except there's only 2 suspects and it was really obvious who it was :y hmm is it girl who has a creepy crush on Lex or is it the brother who is fiercely protective of his sister. They're emphasizing one over the other! Like a red herring of sorts! So it must be! The other one.
It's already implied before that Lex is older than Clark and his peers (though visually that's hard to tell from all the adult actors haha) but now it's crystal clear. Lex says the girl having a crush on him is too young for him...and that girl is Clark's classmate so asdfasfd all that weird energy Lex has around Lana is definitely freak behavior haha.
The Lana and her bf Whitney plot suuucks this time too. Whitney is stand offish because his pa is hospitalized and he doesn't want to freak Lana out with more parent death trauma and like??? Bro how would that work out. You'd have to tell her eventually. Low tier drama.
Tom Welling's acting is getting better during the Lex scenes especially.
no car crash :(( but we had a feast of car destruction last episode so I won't be too sad about it. Counter stays at 8
Clark stares at Lana through the telescope in his barn while a song plays!! A classic. Counter goes up at 6.5
