FitzSimmons, rated M, 13311 words (for now) Summary: Jemma and Fitz are the new science trivia competition coaches for their respective school. They hit it off immediately, only problem is their school's science trivia teams have been rivals for many years. With everyone around them taking the matter very seriously, what choice do they have? "For twenty points and the last spot in the semi-finals, a question about physics. What does the term event horizon define? "There was a loud bang on the buzzer before Jason, Fitz's unofficial favorite student spoke. "In general relativity, it's a boundary in spacetime beyond which events cannot affect the observer." "Correct. Congratulations Bedford Academy, you won your spot at the semi-finals." Jemma applauded politely. With Nathanson not far, she couldn't do much more, but internally she was cheering for her boyfriend. They would both be in the semi-finals and if they both won, they would finally get to compete against each other for the final. And she would get to beat the crap out of him --lovingly and respectfully of course. Jemma sighed. It was really silly that she couldn't appear to be proud of her boyfriend or go and tease him like she wanted to do it. With Daisy knowing and seeming apparently okay with it given the rather friendly smile she'd given her earlier, maybe they didn't have to hide anymore. She could simply walk up to him, congratulate him and give him a kiss or a hug and people would just have to deal with it. if you have any fake hating recs please share I'm a fan ;__;

Well, first and foremost would definitely be @xparrot‘s Subterfuge series. (Okay, yes, I may be a bit biased as it’s my sister’s fic and I might have suggested…ie begged, for several of the later ones specifically, but still, sooooooooo good!!!!)

It’s predominantly Smallville, with the first couple stories being a crossover with Static Shock. But you don’t really need to be all that familar with either series…really you just need to know the basic tenants of Superman mythos, with Clark and Lex being arch-nemesis (only really the opposite here XD)

The fandom that I had made me think of it was All for the Game/Foxhole Court, in which there are multiple post-canon fics that have the two main boys playing for opposite teams and whole sports world assumes they hate each other/rivals, when actually they’ve been in a committed relationship for some time. Probably my favorite of these is the coin toss universe series, but there are several fun ones along this theme.

There is also a Jdrama/manga series, Ouroboros (though I’ve only seen the drama) in which the main premise is a cop and Yakuza member who are actually childhood friends/basically brothers secretly working together to get revenge…this series comes with the caveat that while fun, kinda goes completely off the rails near the end (well, again, the drama does…not actually sure if the manga is finished, it wasn’t when I watched the drama a few years back)

Other than these, not much is coming to mind (as I mentioned in the post, it’s a scenario I sincerely wished there was more of). If anyone else has any good recs along these lines I’d LOVE ‘em!

Jemma rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. "It's the Iguanodon." "But how—" "And I believe it was identified by geologist Gideon Mantell in 1822." Jemma gave him a smug smile and it made his heart flutter in his chest. "God, you're smart!" Her smile widened. "So does this mean Trinity won?" "Jemma, I didn't--" "That's perfect. Professor Nathanson, my team and myself will be waiting for your declaration of--" She was cut off by his lips on hers as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close. Jemma giggled and relaxed into the kiss but he pulled back after only a few seconds. The museum was practically empty but it was still a public place.
