I don't know who needs to hear this, but sometimes a fake pocket isn't a fake pocket, its just sewn shut and can be a fully functioning pocket if you cut it open.
I didn't learn this until stupidly late in the game, so I figure someone out there might benefit from being told about this.

It's fun to turn fact-checking into a little detective game, and I highly recommend it. No one named "Brenda Wilcox" invented false pockets for the Calvin Klein brand in the 70s, although there's at least some credible sources suggesting the trend did emerge around then as a cost-cutting hack.

Who the fuck thought putting fake pockets onto jeans/jackets/literally any kind of clothing is a good idea?!! Like why, just why? I want real, actual, functional pockets. I want large bulky pockets, I want small gum-wrapper-sized pockets, I want those “secret” pockets inside of jackets, and I want those jean back pockets that I’ve never actually used but makes me giggle like a five-year-old whenever I stick my hand inside. The only pockets I don’t want are fake pockets.
They just make me so angry. And annoyed. Ugh.
