She smiled, rubbing the back of her neck. ❝Ah... a lot. For a long time, books were all I had, really.❞ Laughing, she shrugged. ❝Yeah, that would be pretty tough. Being aggressive in the right situation would be tough and manly, too.❞ Her cheeks went mildly pink, and she cleared her throat. ❝Ah, I should probably get going. I've taken up a lot of your time, I'm sure.❞
He reached out to poke her nose. "Really? You seem to be quite the mystery aren't you?" His arm draped over her shoulder, giving her a loose hug. "Aggressive in the right situation...I'm going to have to figure out how to do that, but one day I will." A frown appeared on his face at her words, causing him to puff out his cheek. "Leaving so soon? But we just started talking."
❝I like all types, really. I do prefer fiction to nonfiction, and usually in the form of fantasy or sci-fi with lots of adventure. But I am weak to romances, too. And horrors novels. I like reading scholarly journals, too.❞ She shrugged as she pulled away from him, letting her hands fall back to her sides. ❝Police officers do have to be tough, but it doesn't really count if you're only tough on the job. But don't worry. I'm sure someday you'll prove to me you're tough off the clock, too.❞
"Fiction is always better for me, it's a nice escape from reality when you really need it. You seem really interested in books, it makes me wonder how many you've read." He rocked back onto the heels of his feet, folding his arms behind his back. "So what if I decide to kill a giant spider in front of you, would that be considered tough?"
❝That's true.❞ She hummed at the attention to her hair; she was sleepy and it was soothing. ❝I usually spend the time reading the books, honestly...❞ At his answer, she slowly tilted her head up, blinking up at him with wide eyes. She could feel it on the tip of her tongue, the near-automatic response to say something coquettish like 'Oh I love men in uniform~' But instead she squinted her eyes at him, pressing her lips together for a moment. ❝See that, that is a manly occupation.❞
"What type of books do you like? I know a few that loves murder mystery books, although I don't really find them as entertaining to read as thrillers. Whenever I do read that is." He chewed on his lower lip, a small laugh escaping his lips at her reaction while he patted her shoulder lightly. "Thank you, I like to believe it is myself. Have I proven myself to be tough yet?"
fakevvings replied to your post:"Je adore ce livre.”
❝I don’t understand French, but it looks cute, so I’d watch it with you~❞
"You don't? I don't know it either, but my tongue speaks French, they say." He snickers, wiggling his eyebrows before avoiding her gaze in embarrassment. "Then I guess I have someone to watch it then? Too bad it's still on October of 2015."
She grinned, amused at his answer. ❝Yeah, you don't seem like the type to read. Too manly.❞ Turning her head, she rested her cheek against his chest with a small sigh of relief. ❝No, you're right. I haven't mentioned yet, but I work in the book store I was talking about. I'm not really qualified for much else besides retail and service jobs, unfortunately. What about you?❞
"I do occasionally read, if you include mangas and comic books that is. I'm just really lazy." A small pout formed on his lips, hand running through her hair for a moment. "Really? That must be a really nice job to have though, book stores are quiet and that means a lot of time to for thinking. Unless you spend that time rearranging books or something." He blinked, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm a police officer."
She looked up at him with wide eyes. ❝I found this article in a scholarly journal in the book store. It was about nuclear weapons. It was pretty interesting~❞ Her cheeks colored slightly as she realized she probably sounded weird, and she rested her chin against his chest. ❝But other than that, uneventful. I'm tired after a long day of work, though.❞
He tilted his head, staring down at the younger girl. "Scholarly journey? I haven't read one in years, I tend to avoid those types of books since I'm not much of a reader." He mused to himself silently, tapping his chin for a moment before returning his attention to her. "Really? I never asked..what do you do for work? At least I don't think I've asked, either that or I've forgotten."
