January 24, 2025 - Spot-winged Falconet (Spiziapteryx circumcincta) Found in parts of Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay, these small falcons live in scrubby habitats with trees. They feed on insects, lizards, small mammals, and birds. Possibly raising two broods a year, they use the nests of other species, including those of cachalotes and probably Firewood-gatherers. They also nest in active colonies of Monk Parakeets. Females lay clutches of two to four eggs.
