Castile was in a car with his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her 4-year-old daughter. (Source: @wikipedia - On July 7, 2016, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed a group of police officers in Dallas, Texas, killing five & injuring nine others. Johnson was an Army Reserve Afghan War veteran who was angry over police shootings of black men & stated that he wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers. The shooting happened at the end of a protest against the police killings of Alton Sterling & Philando Castile, which had occurred in the preceding days. - I’ve told this story a lot over the last two years. I was on sabbatical in Jersey & off social media. One morning the elderly neighbor lowered his flag to half mast. My heart sank & I ran inside to discover the news. I sat down to journal my thoughts but out poured a song. A few hours later I went live on Facebook for the first time to share it as a way to help people process their own grief. - It is my hope and prayer that the words of Isaiah 2:4, an organizing principle for the United Nations, will come sooner than we can hope “& they shall beat their swords into plowshares, & their spears into pruninghooks” - Stream, buy, share it everywhere.
