🍁 Autumnal Affection — Part I:
Pumpkin Spice Temptation ☕️
Pairing: Tim Drake × Reader
POV: Second person
Tone: Fluff, warmth, mutual pining
Inspired by @timdrakesteacup thank you for reminding me that Tim needs more airtime on my blog ❤️
When a pumpkin-spice experiment turns the manor kitchen into a late-night caffeine lab, you and Tim learn that chemistry isn’t just for coffee.
🍂 Author’s Note: After the heat and chaos of Kinktober, I wanted to slow down and linger in something softer. Autumnal Affection is my cozy season — little moments of warmth, laughter, and quiet connection across Gotham. These fics are less about the fire and more about the glow it leaves behind — coffee-scented mornings, sweater-weather nights, and the kind of love that feels like fall. ☕️
The Manor kitchen smells like sugar, roasted pumpkin, and espresso.
Rain taps against the tall windows while soft jazz hums from Alfred’s old speaker.
Tim’s laptop glows on the counter beside three French presses, each tagged with a numbered sticky note.
He’s already on his third cup. His sleeves are rolled past his elbows, his tie half-undone, and there’s a smudge of cinnamon dusting the corner of his jaw.
“You realize most people test coffee by drinking it, right?” you tease, watching him swirl another sample like a sommelier.
Tim shoots you a dry look over the rim of his mug. “Control groups, please. Science requires consistency.”
You grin, stealing one of the mugs anyway. “Consistency tastes boring.” The liquid’s still too hot; you hiss and pull back.
He’s instantly at your side, thumb brushing the corner of your mouth to check for a burn. “You okay?”
Your breath catches—not from the heat this time. “Fine,” you manage, the word coming out softer than you meant.
He blinks, realizes how close he’s standing, and retreats behind his analytical composure. “Right. Good. Data integrity.” He clears his throat, turning back to his notes while you hide a smile behind your cup.
Fifteen minutes later, the kitchen feels warmer than before. Steam curls in lazy spirals from the last French press, and the scent of pumpkin spice has grown heavy—sweet, heady, almost floral.
Tim frowns, sniffing the air. “That’s… odd. Did Alfred change the base syrup?”
You inhale again. It does smell stronger, richer, like autumn condensed into a single breath. Your pulse flutters. “Maybe it’s just steeped too long?”
He shakes his head, checking the timer on his watch. “It’s been exactly four minutes.”
The heat between you doesn’t feel like coffee anymore. Tim tugs at his collar, eyes flicking to yours before darting away. “Is it—hotter in here?”
“Maybe,” you say, laughing nervously. “Or maybe your caffeine levels finally reached critical mass.”
He manages a half-smile, but his voice comes out rougher than usual. “I don’t usually… react like this.” He runs a hand through his hair; you notice his fingers trembling slightly.
You lean closer, curious, and the aroma wraps around both of you—cinnamon, nutmeg, something deeper you can’t place. The air feels thick, electric.
Tim glances at the test jar on the counter, scanning the label. “Wait—this isn’t the standard blend. It’s one of WayneTech’s new mood-regulation formulas.”
Your eyebrows rise. “So we’re what—field testing?”
He exhales a shaky laugh. “Apparently.”
The rain outside grows louder, a steady rhythm against the glass. You exchange a long look; neither of you moves.
The line between experiment and accident blurs, and the warmth that started in your chest spreads lower, insistent, undeniable.
The rain softens, a steady hush against the windows.
Steam drifts up from the mugs like ghostly ribbons, curling between you as the air thickens with the scent of cinnamon and warmth.
Tim leans one hand on the counter beside you, the other still holding his cup. The closeness isn’t new—he’s always gravitated toward you during late nights at the Manor—but something about this moment feels heavier, more deliberate.
“Maybe we should ventilate,” he says quietly, though he makes no move to step back.
You reach past him toward the small window crank, your shoulder brushing his arm. The faint static that jumps between you makes both of you freeze.
“Tim,” you whisper, “it’s fine. We’re fine.”
He gives a breathless laugh that doesn’t sound convinced. “You keep saying that, and my pulse keeps disagreeing.” His hand, still braced on the counter, curls slightly until his knuckles graze your hip.
The motion is barely there—an accident, maybe—but it changes everything.
The hum of the espresso machine fades into the background; all you can hear is the rhythm of your breathing.
Tim clears his throat. “This is… the part of the experiment where we record anomalies, right?”
You nod, smiling, even as your heart hammers. “Definitely. I think we’re in uncharted territory, Dr. Drake.” you tease.
He meets your eyes then—really meets them—and whatever self-control he’s been clinging to flickers. The corners of his mouth twitch, half nervous, half daring.
“Then we should… document it,” he murmurs, stepping just close enough that his breath mixes with yours.
For a heartbeat, neither of you moves. The world narrows to coffee steam, the scent of spice, and the soft warmth radiating between you.
Somewhere in the distance, thunder rolls. The lights flicker.
Tim’s voice drops to a whisper. “Tell me if I’m crossing a line.”
You shake your head slowly. “You’re not.”
The silence stretches, full of possibility—the moment balanced perfectly between laughter and something far more dangerous.
Then his fingers find yours on the counter, linking lightly.
For a moment neither of you speaks. The only sound is the slow rhythm of rain and the faint, steady hiss of the espresso machine.
Tim’s thumb brushes over your knuckles—once, twice—as if testing a theory. When you don’t pull away, he finally leans in, and the scent of coffee and spice fills the space between you.
The kiss starts tentative, uncertain, like he’s still running calculations in his head. Then his hand slides up to the back of your neck and something in him lets go. The hesitation melts; all that remains is warmth and the faint taste of cinnamon on your tongues.
You laugh against his mouth, a soft, dizzy sound that he swallows whole. The counter digs into your back, his tie slips loose, and the world beyond the kitchen simply fades.
When you finally part, both of you are breathing hard, cheeks flushed from more than caffeine. Tim blinks, dazed, a crooked smile tugging at his lips.
“Okay,” he murmurs, voice rough. “Definitely a chemical reaction.”
You grin, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “Think we should… test it again?”
He huffs a quiet laugh, forehead resting against yours. “I’m already addicted.”
For the first time all night, the science doesn’t matter
Outside, the rain steadies into a soft drizzle. Steam curls from the forgotten mugs, and the kitchen smells of pumpkin, spice, and something sweeter you don’t have a name for yet.
