Woo-Hoo! Getting ready to start making plans for the new school year!
Embrace the cozy vibes of fall with 5 planning rituals that make organizing fun—candles, warm drinks, seasonal pages, weekly resets, and gratitude journaling.
I had an epiphany last night.
I’ve been thinking I have to create a face-to-face class with hybrid elements and small class sizes/groups that I can turn into a 100% remote if I need to.
That’s backasswards.
I need to create a 100% online course that I can pull out elements and turn into face-to-face if need be.
Wow.
It completely changes my whole perception of this situation. I can prep as much of it online as I can starting now. I can have powerpoint/discussions for my online class that I can switch to in person quickly. I can move online viewing chats too.
What got me to this point?
The realization that I’m going to have students who will have to miss 2 weeks of class if they have to go into isolation and that I’ll still be expected to teach them the same way I’m teaching in person students. 2 weeks at the minimum. I could have any number coming and going or the whole class suddenly shut down in person because of exposure.
Yeah, I need to plan for 100% remote.

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established... The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16.1-3, 9
Father, you alone are sovereign. You alone have true power. It is your tongue that answers. It is your might that establishes. It’s not aims and objectives that earn your approval. You weigh the spirit, the intention, and the heart.
As fall approaches, protect us from charging forward in plans and self-proclaimed pure ways. Protect us from getting swept up in to-do’s and measurable goals. Keep us desperate, dependent, humble, worshipful, and always-loving. We have no works worth doing on our own. May we always be established in yours.
Finished getting my stuff all sorted out. Have it all plugged into my phone and on the physical calendar.
Fall Schedule
Getting my schedule for fall all sorted out now. Making my life easier by doing it now before my classes start next week. It gives me time to plan out all the stuff I want and need to do.
Planting for Fall
It’s still quite warm here in the Virginia piedmont, but nonetheless the days are growing shorter. That means time to start thinking about all kinds of cool weather crops: the ruminants are getting hormonal, soon my rabbit buck will no longer be heat sterile, and it’s time to start getting fall crops in the ground. Due to some unfortunate fencing failures in late spring, the goats demolished the…
