The epitome of Derek not understanding women could probably all be summed up in one woman named Tia Reyes. He’d been his worst self to her, on multiple occasions. But she didn’t really seemed to phased by that at all. And then, when he quite literally saved her from a collapsing building, she kissed him. He didn’t at all understand why that deserved a kiss, or more importantly what the kiss had even meant. But Derek being Derek meant that he was going to spend quite some time thinking about the kiss, and how rude he was to her, and how she still seemed to come around every once in a while, despite all of that. He spotted her at the Christmas market and made no bones about making his way up to her, completely unsure of how to start a conversation with her, but knowing that he wanted to. “Uh--hi Tia--hi uh...” He paused. “Just hey I guess--how are you--doing?” And he officially felt like the world’s biggest idiot.

“Christmas cringles! That was colder than I expected. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to drink that all at once but, oops, not mad.” She shrugged and laughed along, enjoying all of the special Christmas cocktails around town. Miraculously, she hadn’t found a single one she didn’t like yet. But she supposed that wasn’t exactly a Christmas miracle. “Okay, okay, which one should we try next?”

Chelsea twisted open the top of her flask, lifting it up to her lips. There was something about a hot drink on a crisp Fallbrook night like tonight that felt so right. Christmas time in Fallbrook was weird too, it was the only time of year that the town had a prettier view than the moon rising over the ocean. Her head had turned back to look at all the lights and Christmas cheer that filled the streets behind them. “Christmas is such a weird time. People are fucking nuts about it. It’s like, everyone is on drugs for like a month and half and then it’s just blah winter for two months as they come down.”

Derek skated over to Verity in a pretty relaxed manor for that of a professional hockey player. But he knew how to turn that on and off and he wasn’t even sure if the outdoor rink Arctic Skate had set up was allowing sticks. They were however, allowing hot chocolate so he figured as he waited for Verity to get situated he’d buy them a couple. He leaned over the bench once he reached where she was lacing up her skates, “You ready?” He asked, handing a cup her way.

When Chelsea realized they were low on volunteers for the cookie decorating in town, she figured she could recruit a few people to help out. One of the top recruits on her list was Chase, in part being that she had easy access to him. Him being her neighbor and the fact that she was spending more and more of her time at the shop, but also because she figured he was someone who enjoyed volunteering his time. But the fact that he was late did not bode well, though really she just wondered if Chase was okay since he wasn’t exactly the flaky type. In any case, she would manage without him for the time being, making sure all participants had the right amount of supplies for their cookie decorating dreams. Finally, she spotted him making his way over to her, and Chelsea was quick to close the gap. “You’re late. Did something happen? I’ve got things covered for the most part but I think we’ll need a new batch of cookies soon and I can’t transport them all on my own.”

“Stop it right fucking now!” She blurted out the second she saw Chloe coming towards her at the Winter Market. Chelsea had a rare day off and she magically wasn’t even scheduled to do any volunteering that day either. And like on most of her days off, all she wanted to do was have a girls day with Chloe. Upon seeing her she simply could not contain herself, noticing how she’d finally purchased the coat they’d been looking at together for weeks. “Um excuse me but when were you going to tell me you finally got it!” Chelsea handed the mocha she’d gotten for Chloe as they took in the market together, before making her way all the way around her. “Can I touch it, I’m touching it.” She said without waiting for an answer reaching out for a feel, “Ugh, it’s so good.”
