Fallen Premonitions [7]
Order 66
A/N: Hey guys, sorry this is so late! I've been so busy with my dissertation and work, it's been hectic, but alas chapter 7 is finally here, warning sorta sad - hence the name of the chapter.
Word Count: 2.8k
“Hey…cyar’ika? Y/N?”
“Shouldn’t you be with Ahsoka right now?” You asked, eyes focused on grabbing your things as you clipped your lightsaber to your belt. You grabbed your cloak off the bed in the room you were currently staying in.
“Y/N…”
Rex let out a small huff of annoyance, storming over to you as he grabbed your shoulders softly, turning you around to face him before cupping your face in his warm palms, forcing you to look at him. “Y/N… stop.”
“I have to go Rex.” You sighed sadly, eyes meeting his honey brown eyes as he placed a warm kiss on your forehead, before guiding your bed, holding your soft hands in his as he sat opposite you.
“I know. I just… just have a gut feeling that this could be the last time I see you, and I-I … I don’t want that.” Rex gulped out, eyes watering as he saw the tears fill up you own.
“Please don’t cry mesh’la… we will see each other again. I promise. I-I don’t think I could live without you if I didn’t.” Rex confessed, pulling you into his arms, letting his tears flow freely, not caring who saw. He was terrified of losing you, he hated being away from you even in battles and with the dreadful thoughts he’d been having of losing you – having you go to Utapau only made him worry even more.
“I love you Rex… I’m sorry, I just- I don’t want to leave you.” You sobbed as you hugged him tighter. “But I have to go. Anakin needs me, I can’t leave him. He’s in danger, I don’t know what it is, but something doesn’t feel right.”
“I love you too mesh’la, you know I do.” Rex pulled away, wanting to see your face, memorise each part of it before you left. “I understand cyare, j-just… can I hold you before you go? I w-want t-.”
“Please…” You mumbled, as Rex quickly pulled of his armour, leaving him in his blacks as he tugged you to his body, laying down on the bed as the two of you closed your eyes. His warm large hands wrapped around your body, chest to chest as you felt his breathing calm, placing soft kisses on your forehead before he placed his own on yours, mumbling words in mando’a, words that you didn’t understand, but you knew they were loving ones. The two of you lay in bed for a while, ignoring the chaos roaring on outside as you snuggled into Rex’s warmth, both of your breathing now calm as you listened to the sound of his heartbeat.
“What do you think we’ll do after this is all over?” You asked, placing a hand on Rex’s cheek, looking up at his face. Rex was silent for a while. You thought he wasn’t going to reply and was just about to say something before he did.
“I think I’ll quit the job. But I wouldn’t be able to leave completely. I think I would go back to Kamino, maybe train some of the younger ones. I quite like the idea of being a teacher.” You smiled at the thought of Rex teaching some of the younger clones, you could totally imagine him doing that. Although your heart sank as Rex didn’t mention you at all, did he really not see a future with you?
“Then I would probably come home to you, and to our children…” Rex smiled, as he cupped your cheek. “You didn’t think I would forget about you did you mesh’la?”
“No…” You sniffled, the idea of you, Rex and your imaginary children warmed your heart, more than you thought it would. “I j-just, I didn’t realise you had thought that far.”
“I didn’t.” He let out a small huff of laughter. “Not until you came into my life.”
“I love you Rex, I love more than you possibly know.” You sniffled again, tucking yourself into him as you leaned up kissing him on the lips.
“I know you do cyar’ika. I love you more than words can express; I wish we could just run away after all this. Have our own lives, away from the Jedi, the Republic.”
“We will Rex. I promise, we will.”

After saying your goodbyes, you left Mandalore, your troopers alongside you as you made your way into hyperspace. You could have sworn you heard Rex threatening Kiri to look after you, resulting in Kiri retaliating by making sure that Rex didn’t die, that he made his way back to you. It warmed your heart to see your troopers, your boys, look after you and Rex, you knew they would hate the day when you and Rex would leave. You had thought about bringing them with you, they had suffered too much under the Republic, letting them be free and able to roam the galaxy without say. You knew they would enjoy that; you swore you would do that for them as you watched Luka and Hopper argue over Kiri cheating at the game.

Utapau had gone and come too quickly, far too quickly. You had found it strange how the Chancellor had suddenly found Grievous’s location. It had been far to sudden, almost as if the Chancellor had been holding it back this entire time and was waiting to inform the Jedi Council when the time was right. You were thrilled to be on a mission with Obi-Wan, it had been quite a while since the two of you had been on one together, although you did usually have Anakin tagging along.
Obi-Wan had a plan. Well, to be honest it was a half-assed plan but you weren’t surprised, the man had been spending far too much time with Anakin and you’re pretty sure his influence was rubbing off on him.
“Obi-Wan, that is a ridiculous plan!” You whispered as you tugged on his sleeve.
“Well did you notice we have no other options?”
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, as you watched the Master Jedi pull his hood off and throw his cloak at you playfully before saluting at you and jumping down into the den of Grievous and his droids. “And I thought Anakin was dramatic. Now I know where he gets it from.”
Rushing off in the opposite direction, you gently patted the varactyl, as she slowly purred at your touch, leaning into you. “Good girl Boga.” Just as you climbed onto her, you heard the sound of several lightsabers being ignited. “Let’s go girl!”
You set off in the opposite direction, quickly using your comms to contact Kiri and Cody. “Commander?”
“General?”
“Kiri, Cody, we need you on the south side, I’m on my way, General Kenobi has engaged contact with Grievous, as soon as you’re in get to the east wing.”
“Sir yes sir.” Cody replied before getting his brothers ready.
“Y/N?”
“Kiri? What’s wrong?” You asked, you could tell Kiri had something on his mind, his tone of voice told you he was worried about something. In the background you could just about hear the voices of Hopper yelling at one of his brothers before calling for Kiri.
“Ah, it’s nothing Y/N. Don’t worry about it.”
“Kiri…” You warned.
“I promise. Just… just be careful Y/N. I have a bad feeling that something is going to happen.”
***
Kiri was right.
After apprehending Grievous, you and Obi-Wan made your way to the middle of the base, reuniting with the 265th and the 212th, Kiri instantly pulling you into a hug and Hopper patting your shoulder, a wide grin plastered on his face seeing you safe.
“Y/N.”
“Kenobi.” You laughed. “That was ridiculous.”
“Well, it worked didn’t it?”
“Somehow it did.” Obi-Wan pulled you into a small hug before you spoke once more. “I fear Grievous left some crucial information behind about the Sith Lord, I’m going to take a look.”
“I will come with.” Obi-Wan agreed before quickly grabbing his lightsaber off Cody. You quickly saluted to Kiri signalling that you were heading to the top tower with Obi-Wan before he sent a grin back before he turned around and received a comm call.
“Lets take Boga.” Obi-Wan climbed on, scaling the walls as you gripped tightly onto your own creature. “I’ll take my own thanks. You ride creatures as bad as Anakin flies!”
“I absolutely do not!”
Commander Cody? Execute Order 66.
Yes sir.
Commander Kiri?
Yes sir?
Execute Order 66.
The two clone commanders looked at each other before nodding, Cody’s hand already signalling to blast his General while Kiri hesitated, his eyes focused on your grinning face as his hand trembled. His mind flashed back to the time where you and the boys had got trapped in the ice cave, when he found out about you and Rex, and all the times where you had saved him, cared for him like no-one else did.
"Kiri?"
Kiri didn't look up, eyes downcast as he quickly wiped away the tears, not wanting to look weak or been seen crying by his General. What he didn't expect was to feel two warm arms wrapped about his shoulder from the back, cuddling into him.
"General? W-wha-?"
"Just close your eyes Kiri." Your soft tone lulled Kiri into closing his eyes as you adjusted yourself and had him lay in-between your legs, hands carded through his hair as you softly took care of him. Your calming presence sent waves of serenity though Kiri, his racing mind now calm as he pictured his dead brothers on the ground.
"It wasn't your fault Kiri. You are not to blame. Don't let this hang over you, I know how difficult it is to see your family, your brothers die before you, but can't let this define you."
Kiri took a deep breath, feeling your soft lips press a kiss to his forehead before he feel asleep, mumbling a few words.
"Thank you, Y/N.”
The blaster in Kiri's hand trembled with fear as he watched Cody shoot his General down, not hesitating to shoot you down as well. Before Kiri could even react, the blaster dropping from his hands as he slammed himself into Cody, tumbling on the ground with him. His eyes quickly looking up to see the blast had just narrowly missed you, but it wasn't enough. Members of the 212th were already setting up another blaster shot at you, one he wasn't fast enough to stop. You were already falling off the creature and into the deep water as several of his brothers shouted commands to find the Jedi.

“Captain Rex. Execute Order 66.”
“Yes Sir.”

Narrowly escaping the attack from the 265th and the 212th, you had been forced into the water. Trying your best to avoid the clones, you had searched for Obi-Wan, but you couldn’t find him. It wasn’t until you were deep underwater, you felt a premonition coming on, trying to swim upwards, to quickly find dry land before you were pulled into a dream.
Or what you at least thought was a dream.
“I am your pathway to power. I have the power to save the one you love. You must choose. You must stop him!”
The voice of Chancellor Palpatine rang through your head as you watched the old man lay against the wall, his own electricity rebounding and hitting him in the face as Master Windu defended himself.
“Don't listen to him, Anakin!”
Master Windu struggled to hold Palpatine back as his grip on his lightsaber grew weaker and weaker.
“I'm too weak. Don't kill me. Please.”
Anakin stood behind the two of them, his face conflicted as he watched on in pain. His eyes swollen with tears as he thought of you. “Y/N.” He whispered more so to himself, to ground him, to help him reach a decision.
“It is not the Jedi way… “ He called out to Master Windu. “I need him…”
Just as Master Windu is about to slash Palpatine away, in a split-second Anakin jumps in and slashes Windu’s arm off, his lightsaber falling into the night sky as he screamed in pain. Palpatine regains himself before he unleashes another burst of electricity at Windu, ultimately killing him as he throws him out the window.
“What have I done?” Anakin falls onto the ground as he breathes heavily, his face full of horror of what he had done. “You are fulfilling your destiny, Anakin. Become my apprentice. Learn to use the dark side of the Force.” Palpatine cackled as he looked down at Anakin.
“I will do whatever you ask.”
“Good.”
“Just help me save Y/N’s life. I can't live without her. I won't let her die. Please…” Anakin begged as his eyes filled with tears, his mind full of thoughts of you dying, of what he had done, of what you would think. He tried to connect with you, like you had with him on the ice planet, but you were too far from him, he didn’t know how to reach you, how to keep you safe.
This was his only chance.
Breathing heavily, you were pulled out from under the water, arms wrapped around your waist as you were hauled onto a ship, eyes fluttering shut as you whispered out one word. One name.
“Anakin.”
***
Obi-Wan had sensed a strong presence emancipating from beneath the water, there was only one person he knew that has such a strong presence, which also meant that you were having a premonition and that it was dangerous for you to be underwater. He had found you tangled up in the corals beneath the rocks, your body shaking from the premonition as your eyes flickered open and closed, almost as if you were reliving an event that had happened.
The pain Obi-Wan felt from you was immense, he struggled to hold it in as he detached your leg from the corals, before swimming up and placing you on the ship. He heard you breath heavily as he rushed to the medical droid, making sure you were okay before your hand reached out to stop him.
“Ana- Anakin… trouble …. sith-…” You struggled out before your eyes fluttered shut once more, grip on Obi-Wan growing limp.
“Sleep Y/N.” Master Yoda’s voice echoed through your head, lulling you to sleep.
Y/N…
Y/N…
Darling, wake up.
Anakin’s voice rang in your head as you opened your eyes to see him, gasping in shock as you rushed over to pull him into a hug.
“Ani? What happened? I don’t understand, the clones, Kiri, Cody, they turned on us! I had a vision, I saw you, the Chancellor and Master Windu! The chancellor, he’s not who he says he is. Anakin, I don’t trust him.”
“Y/N, my love. I will explain everything soon. I am going to the planet of Mustafar, I have something to do, Separatists have gathered there, I must get rid of them. I want you to meet me there. Please. I need you to be there with me.”
You nodded solemnly, before Anakin pulled you into a hug once more, kissing the top of your forehead, murmuring some words.
“I love you.”
***
The journey back to Coruscant was a painful one, you couldn’t stop thinking about Anakin, of how much danger he was in, how close he was to the dark side, and what he meant by saving your life. His words had left you confused as you approached the Jedi Temple, only to find it in flames. Dead padawan bodies scattered across the floor as you knelt down to touch one of them, recognising the young, overly enthusiastic boy.
“Pasha…” You whispered in agony.
“Who? Who could have done this?” Obi-Wan asked, voice pained as he took in the younglings on the ground. Your eyes flickered to the security room, already knowing who had done this.
Anakin.
You rushed off out the Jedi Temple, needing to get some air, only to see Padme Amidala stood outside, her eyes downcast as she looked at you. You had never been close to her but she was an extremely good friend of Anakin’s’, her face burst into tears as she rushed over to you.
“Y/N… he’s gone. He’s truly gone.”
Who was she talking about?
“No. He isn’t. I promise, we’ll bring him back. He’s j-just a little lost.”
“It’s all over Y/N.”
***
Obi-Wan had a gut feeling about you, you knew something, and you weren’t telling him. Whether it was because you were scared or worried, he didn’t know. Following you after he had seen you leave Padme, he had seen you board a jet, Anakin’s jet, one that he was certain it would take you to Anakin, masking his force signature he hid in a small compartment, waiting to confront his old padawan.
