[ 🍃 ]ㅤ.ㅤdo they feel like they belong ?: Fucking oof, direct hit on a sore spot with the first question. He doesn't for a long time. He may not dress or act like it, but Axl's over 2 centuries old, and he's not really felt at home since he was <100, living back home with his original coven and his mother - and even then, he was bullied by others his age, and looked upon with a certain amount of disdain/suspicion by the older vamps for being the literal bastard child of The Village Bastard (really underselling Ryurik for the sake of the joke tbh), so he never fully fit in. Since then he's been in a "wandering" state, always feeling like his current situation was temporary, even if he stayed there for a good few years (probably helps that decades don't feel like much to an immortal that old).

He got close to feeling at home with the Sommers (specifically with Trinity) in ye ole vampire rehab before he was kicked out (and for him that whole incident only served as a reminder that he shouldn't get comfortable anywhere, especially around humans).

He'll realise that the circus is his home eventually. He just hasn't quite got there yet.

[ 💤 ]ㅤ.ㅤhow do they sleep ? curled up, sprawled, holding onto something ?

He's a sprawler. Starfish across a double bed. Good thing he only needs to sleep every few days otherwise idk where Trinity would go in the instances where he takes a break from touring and stays with her.

I think he probably twitches/flinches/snaps awake a lot too. He's most likely slept roughing it outside a lot in the past & he's a pretty light sleeper (and prone to stress dreams).

Ask the man himself and he wouldn't really have an answer (see first question). But it's solidly 50% the circus and 50% Trinity's place. (With a momentary thought of his mother somewhere in Russia and a pang of guilt)

[ 🫳 ]ㅤ.ㅤwho do they feel they owe, but never paid back ?

First, his mother, Liliya. When he left it was sudden and he didn't say goodbye, and he hasn't had any contact with her since. His experience back in his coven was mostly very shit, but it wasn't her fault. She did her absolute best and he knows that.

Secondly, one of the very early members of the circus, a stuntman named Max. Max is owed an explanation, and an apology, that cannot ever be delivered.

Took Vlad's hairtie away, was curious to think about how long his hair really is since I keep drawing his ponytail longer and fluffier every time I draw him

Spooky circus comic, you say? 👀

Ye! The comic itself is the WIP that forever haunts me so unfortunately I can't point you in the direction of where to read any of it yet, but it's a thing I've been working on largely in the form of notes, snippets of writing, and many, many character doodles for a very long time.

I've had friends describe it as "a fucked up slice of life". It follows a modern (ish - late 2010s) circus troupe travelling and performing, sort of a Penn & Teller / Circus of Horrors (UK) deal with a live band, but the setting is a world where various different types of mythical humanoids exist and frequently work in the circus industry. (Also a bit of Darren Shan there, now I think about it)
