As Castiel falls, and becomes human, he gets the chance to discover the world all over again. He has a different perspective on mortality now. Every sunrise is limited, and so he makes it his mission to watch as many as he can. He tastes differently, has cravingsfor certain foods and discovers which ones he can’t stand. He learns how to interact with people.

He learns how to kiss, and how to love.

Because even better than watching the sunrises, or learning the nuances of being human… is spending his moments with Dean, just the two of them.

Lifting the edge of his coat, Castiel looked down at his vessel. Red was spreading across Jimmy's shirt, courtesy of a stab wound to his side. Normally such an injury wouldn't have bothered him, but since he'd sided with the Winchesters against Heaven his grace had been fading by the day. It frustrated him. He'd been an angel, a warrior of God. Now he was all but powerless.

Hearing footsteps approach, Sam judging by the sound, the angel let his trenchcoat fall back over the wound, hiding the blood. There was no need to worry the Winchesters. They had enough to deal with with Lucifer and the Apocalypse.

Castiel turned to face the hunter, realising his mistake when the movement caused a bout of lightheadedness, forcing him to grab onto the nearest surface to steady himself.
