more fallout creature thoughts:
the fact that all the wolves in 1 & 2 have black fur (something only possible when dog genes are present) implies to me that there was a lot of canine interbreeding post-war. Like, I know it’s just model limitations, but it also makes sense in-universe to me. Dogs and wolves and coyotes are abruptly all sharing a nearly humanless wasteland, of course there’s going to be some intermixing. Because of this, the average wastelander’s perception of dogs is that they’re pretty vicious, and any given dog could turn on you (since you have little way of knowing how much actual domesticated dog is present). Plenty of people still have pet dogs, of course, but you gotta be a lot more careful approaching any feral canine in the wasteland.
giant tanky turtles in fallout...big spiky ones...snapping turtles lurking in lakes waiting to ruin your day...oh you could do the fantasy thing where they’ve got entire little forests growing on their shells...
Another creature fallout deserves: jackalopes. Apparently the radrabbits in Far Harbor have horn-like growths; I propose we take this farther. Mutation has resulted in irregular horns growing from the forehead, in some cases blinding the jackalopes as they grow over or in the eye sockets.
you know what else fallout needs? giant aphids for the giant ants to farm. this in turn means the giant aphids need plants to feed on, but i am okay with this, because i desperately want more plant life in the wasteland than what bethesda will give us
