when the naive idealistic good natured vaultie leaves their home and goes straight to megaton and is asked to blow up the town by mr burke.

they’ve had no time to process what just happened in their escape from the vault, and still believe in the rules and morals theyve been taught, they are baffled by mr burkes request! no, they don’t really know anyone here, but they’d never hurt anyone for any amount of money! that’s horrible! so they rush to tell the sheriff they just met, and feel proud following him back to mr burke as they’ve helped bring the criminal to justice. they expect mr burke to surrender to the sheriff and follow him to jail. but suddenly, with a loud bang that makes their ears ring, the sheriff is dead on the floor and mr burke is walking out the door with a smoking gun. simm’s blood is splattered across the vaultie’s shocked face. no one runs after burke. the vault dweller can’t move. no one rushes to their side. they tried to do good, follow the rules, and a good man is now dead on the floor. they got this man killed. it’s their first taste of the real world.

in replays where i do a goody-two-shoes vault dweller (at least at the start, i’ve done it for good to evil) i still do this for the quest cause i feel like narratively it creates a stark difference between the vault and the wasteland the shocks the vault dwellers world view. rip to the sheriff and sorry to his son but my vault dweller needs the character building

Still convinced that if “Take Me Home Country Roads”, which came out in 1971, exists in the Fallout universe, so must other bands from the late 60s-early 70s.

No one can convince me that Led Zeppelin and David Bowie don’t exist in the Fallout-verse. Hell, “Stairway to Heaven” came out the same year, and “Space Oddity” two years before that.

I demand classic rock in my fallout, damn it.
