One of the healthiest ways to get the best produce and at the BEST price is to shop seasonally. Every season different fruits and vegetables are abundant and fall is no different. It’s a great time to enjoy these fruits and vegetables, choosing organic is best if possible. *Apples *Cranberries *Grapes *Oranges *Pears *Spinach *Pumpkin & winter squash *Beets *Brussels sprouts The darker fruits and vegetables are also loaded with antioxidants. Personally, I love making my harvest salad this time of year using fresh spinach, roasted, butternut squash, blueberries… I just left that combination of flavors & textures. I also love buying organic beets WITH the green tops. I feel like I’m saving even more because I get TWO meals out of that one purchase. One side dish of the cooked and chopped beets, and another with the cooked and chopped greens. What’s your favorite way to enjoy fall produce? . . . . . #fall #fallvibes #fallveggies #seasonal #organic #organicfood #healthy #healthyrecipes #healthyfood #healthylifestyle #ygyclub https://www.instagram.com/p/CjLcTdNuP3k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s cooling off outside so time for some soup. Lentil and vegetable. Made easy in 15 minutes in the instantpot. I used carrots, butternut squash, celery, seeet onion, yellow lentils. You can make it with or without meat-I used turkey kielbasa, can diced roasted tomatoes. Season with a little curry powder (not too much!), basil, oregano and thyme. Salt and pepper to taste. Chicken broth. When it is done mash it up with potatoe masher. Serve with fresh chopped spinach.

Today Lettuce Leaf (Salad Bowl Blend), Broccoli (Belstar), Bok Choy (Toy Choy), and Pink Lady Radish seeds were spread, organized, and demarcated into portions of my soil. Planting has been done in an attempt to avoid notice, but to shed more non-metaphorical light on the seedlings, privacy has been discarded. Some may not be the right season, but they have found a home at a time of transition that may allow for growth before the tides shift to frosty nights as the days grow shorter and light slips past us. My soil is sturdy and nutritious and will do all it can to support these seeds as they begin to crack open, setting roots before revealing their cotyledon leaves. These seeds and the plants they will become are frost tolerant, but Chicago has its own rhythm and knowledge, and they will be the judge that decides how best to transition from one season into the next, an early Fall? or a slower ease into the wintery months ahead?
