There is a fine line between day and night that seems visible on Fama87’s debut cassette on Gost Zvuk, aptly named День, ночь (Day, Night). There is no difference between “daytime” and “nighttime” tracks. They are always somewhere in between. Fama87 is no stranger to the label family. He has frequently played at our parties, has collaborated with Flaty and Nocow as part of Wax Paper Cup and has done a few releases with Flaty alone (as Underwraps and FFAA). Both of them featured as guests on this tape. rforest seems like a dialogue between Flaty and Fama87, with a melancholic melody and a persistent beat. Nocow’s gentle voice enriches both Останься со Мной (Stay with Me) and Проснуться на Восходе (Awaken at Dawn).
Despite Fama87’s background in the world of instrumental hip-hop, it’s definitely not a beat tape. He just seamlessly glides back and forth between genres in a continuous stream. On the album you can feel the echoes of ambient, electro, house, hip-hop, R&B, IDM, field recordings and old film music. The hidden plot of the album reveals itself after a few listens. It’s all about the eternal cycle of time: day follows night and night follows day, and so on and so forth. credits released October 1, 2021
