event: 2021 exclusive gala — among the stars

infamous news outlet exclusive is more known for outing scandals and playing friendly in their downtime with mediaplay articles than they are for throwing lavish parties. a recent change in management seems to have plans to change that.

exclusive has announced they’ll be hosting what is meant to be the event of 2021. joined by several other sponsors including top korean fashion magazines and top brands, exclusive has announced the 2021 exclusive gala with the theme of "among the stars”. the theme is in part a promise of what will be an impressive guest list of hot celebrities, from top actors to trendy idols to foreign models, but is also more explicitly a reference to star and space-themed luxe decor, with a garden atrium to stargaze (or stare up at the city light pollution) and a swarovski crystal partnership that is sure to have every corner of the venue sparkling, and a request on all invitations to interpret the theme accordingly in what is worn.

in an ode to the year of 2021, exclusive has made a clear statement they plan to control the last hot topic of the year in a new way.

unfortunately, exclusive isn’t the only one looking for buzz and there’s revenge creeping around the corner.

information:

exclusive will be hosting a gala at a brand new, spacious event venue in seoul. they’ve gone all out for the event, picking a theme and sticking to it. the hottest celebrities of the year are expected to attend, and all idols under bc entertainment, dimensions entertainment, and gold star media have earned an invite thanks to the recent exclusive x base partnership.

attendance is mandatory for all idols under these companies, as it’s expected to be a source of good publicity. there will be a red carpet all guests will walk individually before the event for press photos. all guests are expected to be dressed to the nines to fit the “among the stars” theme of the gala. as the gala is sponsored by several fashion magazines and brands and everyone is walking the carpet individuality, attendees are allowed to be more “out-there” with their fashion than on a normal year-end show red carpet, although the idols in attendance are still expected to dress appropriately for their image.

exclusive has rented the whole venue for the night and will be the first event to be held at the center. constructed with the purpose of offering areas for different types of parties and events, exclusive has rented the full space and will be utilizing it. a visual board of how the venue and themed decorations would look can be found here. a rundown of locations in the venue can be found further down in this post.

as the gala enters the final hours of what seems to be a successful event, a buzz starts to spread throughout the venue. today seoul, a lesser known competitor to exclusive more known for regurgitating press releases than breaking scandals, and who has recently hired some disgruntled former exclusive employees who were let go after management changes, has decided to crash the party in their own way. in a bid most will say was for attention and some might say was for revenge, today seoul spends the late hours releasing a steady stream of dirt they have on celebrities in attendance at the party. some of it is true, some of it not so much, but while the idols of bc, dimensions, and gold star are partying it up with other celebrities, today seoul is waging their attempt at a takedown.

today seoul ends the night with an exposé on each of the three idol companies that exclusive has been so curiously keeping secret.

locations:

there will be a few different main locations throughout the venue:

the ground floor lounge will be the area of the venue everyone first enters into as they leave the red carpet. this space is built for socializing and photo-taking. the lounge will be decked out with sponsored goods, from free giftbags with luxury items and vouchers for restaurants and events in seoul to areas with the perfect lighting and furniture set-up to take a few photos for instagram. there will be a room off to the side of the main lounge that will be set up as a self-photo shoot studio, complete with different sets and props. guests will be able to book a self-studio in twenty minute periods individually or in small groups to take photos. the atmosphere here will be more laidback and social and it’s expected that the lounge will house a mix of different celebrity crowds throughout the evening.

the main room of the venue will be decked out with the grandest decorations here and tables will be arranged with seven seats to a table. drinks will be available and food will be presented in a buffet-style for guests to serve themselves and eat at the table. the event will be catered by one of the top catering companies in the country.

the auction room will be another room down the hallway from the lounge and main room. in this room, a silent auction will be held of items donated by big brands and celebrities in attendance. proceeds will go to charity and items will be bid on by guests in attendance. examples of items up for silent auction would be clothing items from luxury brands, high-end home gym equipment, spa packages, tickets to sporting events, etc. idols in attendance may donate an item to be bid on. (muns may plot around other muses bidding on and/or winning the item donated by their muse both during the event and as future plot points. ideas for items include things like signed albums, a one-on-one dance lesson, an art piece made by a muse, a backstage visit to a variety show they’re a cast member of, etc. this is for fun and, in-’verse for charity, so items don’t have to be totally serious. full-on schedules as items and situations a muse wouldn’t have control over should be avoided (ex. a performance at a private event). keep in mind other celebrities (not all idols) would be the bidding audience for this, so npcs can be used here too.)

the gallery is another room on the ground floor of the venue. a few pieces have been graciously lent by local art galleries for an art installation space within the venue that will remain up for a few weeks following the event itself.

the bar is in yet another separate room that takes up a wide space on the third floor of the venue, up two flights of stairs or a quick elevator ride from the main floor. a large bar sits to the far side of the room where drinks can be ordered (non-alcoholic drinks are available). there’s an open space for mingling or dancing. in a space slightly closed off from the rest of the bar, there are pool tables, air hockey tables, and skeeball machines. a music playlist will be playing at a more sociable volume than the live performances in the basement and music videos will be broadcast on a series of televisions in the bar. large floor to ceiling windows cover most of the room for a view of the city.

the basement is more of a full operational sound-proofed space one staircase down from the ground floor of the venue than a traditional grungy basement venue, but it will house a chance for guests to sit back and be in the audience for once. a few of the most popular korean hip hop and r&b artists (think npc artists along the lines of the aomg roster) have been invited to perform sets on a stage in the basement area. their performances will end around 10:15pm, after which a dj will take over.

the central garden sits in the middle of the building. the area is filled with plants and trees and houses a fountain at the center. it is covered by a glass atrium two floors up. it’s a place to get away from the rest of the event and have some peace, quiet, and privacy among the plants. there are walkways between the plants and benches for guests to rest their legs.

timeline:

5:30pm-7pm: red carpet for press photos and guests enter venue.

7pm~12am: planned span of event (attendees may linger until around 1am, at which point they will begin to be encouraged to start to leave).

10pm: first rumors are posted by today seoul.

10pm-12am: rumors continue to be posted by today seoul. talk may slowly spread, starting with those bored enough of the event to be scouring the internet.

12am: today seoul drops their article on bc entertainment, dimensions entertainment, and gold star media.

if you wish to have a rumor about your muse released by today seoul during the event, you should submit at least two rumor options for today seoul to publish for your muse. they can be either true or false, but should not be anything major enough to be career threatening. examples of what could work here are rumors about their personality (they had a physical fight with a group member, they look down on staff, they stole/sabotaged a group member’s solo activity, staff say they’re incredibly hard to work with), rumors about their background or family (their parent was caught embezzling at their company, they got into their company through family connections), dating rumors (without picture proof), or just “odd” behavior. technically, these can be positive as well, but it’s encouraged it’s still “gossip-y” in some way, whether that be comparing them to others or questioning their intentions.

this is optional, but is your chance to throw your muse into some gossip without it defining their image too much since so much will be dropping at once. generally, these rumors will not count as a scandal against nation’s title claim purposes unless the mun contacts the main to pursue rumors blowing up into bigger scandals down the line separate from the event. you may plot with another mun to have a combined rumor, and any rumors involving another muse should be approved by that mun.

the admin will choose between the rumors you submit for your muse to try to optimize variety and make sure nothing’s too extreme for the context. less major rumors may keep names in tact, while bigger rumors may be made into blind items that do not directly include the muse’s name. if none of your suggestions work for some reason, you may be contacted for other ideas.

in game, this event takes place on the night of monday, december 27, but threads and other posts for this event may be started from monday, november 29 at 12am est / monday, november 29 at 2pm kst (the time this post goes up), to sunday, january 2 at 11:59pm est / monday, january 3 at 1:59pm KST.

threads may be continued past the end date, but must be started before then and are not worth event points after the deadline. non-event related interactions may be conducted during this time as well.
