[NRCxDOC Shenanigans] Playlist + Dorm Songs?

Okay, I know I already dropped the vibe playlist links of each dorm in Dawn Owl College (they're in the pinned post!),

However, for those interested in digging further, one of my favorite habits to help me sink into imagining the contrast between Night Raven and Dawn Owl is playing the dorm songs alternately. I usually do this while walking around campus (which is like 15-40 minutes per walking trip), and that's how I manage to brainstorm and dig deeper on the lore lol... if y'all wanna vibe with me and get a better grasp on the lore and atmosphere, here's my go-to:

(Yep, I selected the official DOC dorm songs/anthem songs from the K-POP sphere. Not a super fan of K-pop (or at least not anymore :P), but I found it a bit too contrasting to use English songs? Since the NRC dorm songs are in JP, at least the mental jump isn't too gigantic... and are you kidding me, these songs are bangers, beat-wise and theme-wise.)

Additional deets and explanations below! I hope to finish the Dorm Lore series soon, as well as the official art for the juniors!

[Explanations]

It took a while to choose 7 final dorm songs, but the main factors were 1) parallelism to NRC dorm motifs and songs (the sound and vibes still echo a connection), 2) the reformed theme of the dorms. More exploration on the lore of each DOC dorm can be found in this blog, but here;

Adios/Kill This Love has that military motif that connects with Heartslabyul and the whole Card Soldiers theme. Still, it fits Coeurmaise's theme of deviating from/ending a relationship (the norms, rules, and traditions that have already proved toxic and suffocating). The two act as two sides of the bridge; Adios retains that bit of fantasy Wonderland elements, while KTL is the finale of leaning less to Wonderland whimsy and more into literal 'okay boys, tea time's over. Things have changed.' At the same time, it mirrors Ruby and Rouge coming more often as a fatal pair.

LION was initially a funny rub-in-the-face choice (Me: Scar is a lion, Zira is a lion, Leona and Miah are lions, heck even Noa and Kleo are lions, why is everybody a lion—) but then the song hits both themes of innate dignity and dominance as well as overcoming prejudice and wearing unjustly gained wounds —both core messages of the 'exiles' against Savanaclaw and other power-focused men.

How You Like That is so fricking far from Octavinelle's jazz motif BAHAHAHAHAH, but that's kinda the point; it's a shameless taunt to Octavinelle and similar systems that thrive on twisted methods, daring them to watch as they thrive anyway despite being screwed over. An interesting alternative for them is Stand Down by Little Mix, but that's in English :P

DOOM DOOM TA was a later choice for Zaharis. I originally set AYA by MAMAMOO as their dorm song, but then this song fits both the loud party/dancefest vibe of Zaharis better, as well as embodies the dorm's newer inclination to performance and shameless expression to crowd out malice and ill-scheming of those in Scarabia. This sounds like something Yasmin would play on loud speaker while everyone goes explosive and bold.

NXDE was an automatic Miroblumme anthem. It not only still fits the motifs and beauty-centered message of Pomefiore, but also expresses the political and societal criticism of Miroblumme as a whole. There's always that instinct to question standards and norms regarding beauty, challenging the comfortable, and constant reformation. Luster is the literal embodiment of this song, given her advocacies and perspectives.

Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard's Wife was a recent song choice for Katdynami, but it clicked. It had that 'ok bet *sarcastic thumbs up while opening the door anyway*' audacity that the dorm embodies against those in Ignihyde and others who gatekeep STEM and online environments/professions. Besides the tech-leaning beats. In general, Katdynami is very 5th-gen girl K-POP coded :P

HWAA was originally part of the Miroblumme playlist, but it didn't click until I added it to Eglanthia instead. It revolves around remaining ethereal amidst betrayal, loss, and getting the short end of circumstances and relationships. This message is core to not only Eglanthia as a whole (social sciences, analyzing history, and its overall patriarchal culture) but also to the personal arcs of Chion and the Clairmont Triumvirate. Nobility and otherworldly grace will persist despite the injustice of reality.

Disclaimer: I wanna point out that though empowering to an extent, I personally do not support the full extremes Fowler does in terms of her man-hater philosophy >:[ Like I said in her lore drop, she is malicious and is willing to paint NRC as the ultimate brood of snakes if she sees fit, which is intended to be a foil to Crowley and NRC's system instead of the 'this is the ultimate school model, where everyone is a man-hater' HUH? joke- It's part of the plot that the girls not only maintain their own judgements, but also heal healthily amongst the NRC guys during the internship arc :)) (oo kasali narin yung kilig—)

There are many variations of the uniform, but here are a few! (You may choose between the slacks, shorter skirt or long skirt, as well as a tie or bow, though you typically are not permitted to wear a tie till your third year)

~.Intro for my TWST fanschool.~

In the southern part of Sage Island resides an academy near the ocean that surounds the island for young, talentfull mages, an all girls school that goes by the name: Spina Dove Academy.

Spina Dove Academy was before an abonded castle full of scrolls and books, but the founder of it called "Mage who wished once upon a star", a woman from a dangerous group who escaped for magic and freedom resided here and wrote down a contract that the castle would become a school for all female mages.

About 400 years later, the academy has been succesful and many mages is now studying their magic. The academy chooses the students dorm by giving the academy' signature pendant with a gem that would after be on the student's uniform bow in the students hand and turns the color where their soul fits best.

The following dorms include:

Wondervigila: The dorm where flowers and riddles bloom everywhere, the founder of this door being the girl who went through the looking glass, her curious nature inspires the dormmembers to always follow their feeling.

Sonnefée:A dreamy and almost surreal dorm, often the dorm to attract most animals due to It's warm aura. The students there are friendly and very kind, but during night, the students fall into a deep slumber. Almost as if there are no students there, adding on a mysterious shine. The students here often have easier to excel in Animal Linguistics.

Oceanusconch: A lively and tropical dorm where the students mostly focus on following the founders footsteps to be true to theirself. The mages in this dorm is often found at the seaside near the school. Their founder being a girl who was friends with the ocean and the demi-god who restored the heart of life herself makes the other mages close to the sealife.

Cinderraeda:Described as one of the most elegant dorms at SDA, the dorms beautiful castle shines like glass, as well as the big clock that rings when the clock strikes 12. It's rumoured that if you wish for something, It's best to make use of that wish before 12 o'clock. The students here hopes to make all of their and your wishes come true.

Sollucerna:Sollucerna has the most energetic and creative dormmembers here as they are inspired by the long-haired princess who went on an adventure with a thief to see the lights she has dreamt of seeing for years. Majority of the students follow the princesses routine, but others include small things as well in their routines. Every year they light up the lanterns and let them float up to the sky as honour to the long haired princess.

Florealfatis: A dreamy and mysterious dorm, with beautiful fountain and statues of the Island of Woe's mythology. These dorms are often interested in their fates, as there are tarot reading. Some get good, others get bad. But the three fates will always see the past, present and future.

Rosiscerei: The dorm decorated with vines and roses around the castle where the townsgirl helped the vicious beasts curse. This dorm is often ranked high in studies to follow in the statue of the townsgirls footsteps, their dorm includes a big beautiful ballroom where anyone is free to dance as they please.

The dorm does not have housewardens but a student council that takes care of for example the budgeting of socia events that they host.

Aside from the dorms, Spina Dove Academy also offers clubs to the students in case they have freetime off of their schedule. Some are already included like Cooking Club, Equastrian Club and Astrology Club. But students have the right to create their own if they please and if it gets accepted by the school, the school will then sponsor the club along with all the other clubs.

As per usual, they celebrate different events. Halloween, Christmas, Spring. But they have a little tradition of their own. "Wish upon a star', every year a comet flies over the school and students make wishes for what they most desire. Another tradition is that each dorm gets 'points' for which dorm reaches the highest in sport matches, exams and other stuff.

Much like NRC, the 4th years have to take an internship that the school collaborates with in order to get the credit they need to do the final exam and graduate. There are 3 periods, each are 3 months. In the end of each period at the internship (can be the same site or a different site each period), they have to write a report on their experience and recieve a B or higher. They have to get credit from at least 2/3 internships to be able to graduate.

Spina Dove Academy has 1 uniform. The uniform is given for free to the students. Accesories are also allowed and any types of shoes. During winter they are offered a coat and tights.

During winter, spring and fall break, students are allowed to stay over in their dorms if they do not wish to go back home, but during summer break they have to leave the school

The students are allowed to have after school jobs but if they miss school too much because of it they are asked to quit it.

Cater Diamond has pulled me back into TWST at least for a little bit longer so I’m making the best of it and focusing on my fan school and its students yay!!!!!

Here’s the Magia Housewarden, Calliope Trein!! They’re a magic user and are also a 3rd year :33 also also they’re in the track and field team (as of now)….

Calliope also used to go to NRC in their freshman year, and they were in Pomfiore!! I think they’re still cool with Vil (mostly because Calliope themselves is like. Kinda popular in their own way) but they don’t hang out much due to Vil’s schedule…… they still try to see him whenever they can to support him though!!!!
