TTS Aspect Palette Post

Listed color names are the names of these hues in-universe, and may not accurately reflect how the same terms are used outside of TickTockStuck. I’m using this format to show how the colors look next to each other because I don’t have all of the aspect symbols done yet and I didn’t want to go half-and-half with some having the symbol and others not.

The non-aspect of Null is a concept created by the Dolls as part of their contributions to the Alternian Extended Zodiac. It is not an aspect in the proper sense, being named specifically in reference of that fact. Its color palette uses Black (#000000) as its background color and its foreground color is a shade of orange (#D65625) that Dolls have simply named “Ember”.

Big update today! Three of the Verse’s aspects have gotten a little more fleshed out; one’s gotten its aspect symbol, one got its symbol and a rename, and the last one is entirely new!

I’m hard at work trying to clean up our aspect catalog and get it rounded out as soon as possible, aspect symbols and all, and with the latest inclusion of Eyes we’ve now only got two open slots left to fill before all 52 aspects are done!

Mood is an aspect that deals with feelings and emotions. It’s a contemplative aspect with domain over thought, and a very fluid one as emotions shift from one to another and bleed into each other. It’s able to resonate with living beings on a deep level and allow for communication on a deep empathic level (even between completely different species) but its weakness is that often, those bound to the aspect of Mood are often lost in their thoughts; having a lot of different ideas but lacking the resolve or initiative to actually carry those ideas to fruition. It stands inverse to the aspect of Will, which focuses on willpower and direct action but often struggles with rushing recklessly into commitments and acting without thinking.

The symbol is a mask displaying two emotions on both halves, the symbolism of which should be clear, but the positive space is drawn in such a way that the whole is one continuous shape from one side to the other to tie into the fluid nature of the aspect.

Locks is a new name, but it’s actually an aspect that’s been public for a while; the aspect Keys has been renamed! The rename is largely so the aspect better shows what it’s about (since the aspect is about limitations and boundaries) and partly because I kept running into issues designing symbols for “Keys”. As a macro aspect, its specialties bleed into other aspects that deal with restrictions - Word (rules and laws), Chains (social constructs and service), Tune (order and harmony), etc. Locksbound individuals can come off as strict or needlessly adherent, which can grant them a great degree of organization or knowledge of where loopholes exist to help other people through the red tape. On the opposite end, they might follow the rules so strictly that they self-isolate, confine themselves from their peers, or succumb to submissiveness in trying too hard to stay between the lines. Locks stands opposite the aspect of Sky, which is specializes in boundless horizons and unlimited potential, but the Skybound can often find themselves lost in the wild blue yonder without anything to guide them along.

Its symbol should be self-explanatory, so I’ll just mention it’s a combination of a padlock and a locked set of doors, with the positive space wrapping around the keyhole negative space to create a cul-de-sac. There’s only one way in or out of that interior space, which is meant to tie into the strict and specific nature of the aspect.

Eyes is a brand new aspect to the catalog! It’s an aspect concerning observation, surveillance, and awareness; exhaustive in its vigilance but matched only by Light in its information-gathering potential. The Eyesbound can come off as prying or snooping in the pursuit of what interests them, or worse come off as domineering or obsessive because the one thing that irks an Eyesbound more than anything else is someone close to them keeping secrets. The aspect stands opposite the aspect of Sleep, which is about resting, rejuvenation, and all the dreams and nightmares that sleeping entails. One lets itself close its eyes for a brief respite from reality, while the other keeps them wide open to keep permanent tabs on reality.

The symbol is an eye with multiple beams of revealing light emanating from it, which mostly speaks for itself. The color choice took a bit, though, since it started at a plain red partly for the visual gag of “red eyes” and also because it was a bright alarm-reminiscent color to tie into the aspect’s surveillance qualities. It mostly just mutated into red-orange to help differentiate it from other red-colored aspects.

The TTS-Verse aspects/aspect-associated color palettes aren’t really any kind of big secret, so while I’m working on them here’s some bits:

Lies’ palette utilizes teal/cyan/turquoise (the specifics are still up in the air). My intent with its symbol is for it to be a literal “double cross”, but the implementation is also up in the air.

Lies’ inverse aspect, Tune, has a symbol that resembles a musical note.

An aspect called Wealth is entirely gold. Greed is only adorned with gold, while posh Glam is likewise adorned with diamond.

Greed’s inverse, Grace, utilizes a light green and its symbol harkens to a giving tree.

Lust’s palette utilizes some combination of hot pinks, magentas, fuchsias, and/or mauves. The earliest design for its symbol resembles a heart mixed with snake fangs, though only time will tell whether that’s the final version I use.

Lust’s inverse, Quest, resembles a treasure map in both palette and symbol.

Scorn is heavily associated with quicksand and thus its palette makes use of browns and tans. Its symbol resembles a spiral in the style of Space or Void’s symbols.

Want, being associated with envy, naturally has a green symbol. That symbol may or may not resemble an eye.

Woe and Grief both have black in their color palettes, but in inverse ways.

Neither Sloth’s palette nor its symbol look like they’re trying very hard.

An aspect called Strife has a palette that makes its symbol look like bloodstains on steel.

The aspect Speed has a symbol shaped like a blazing comet.

Shade’s color palette ties into a black-and-neon aesthetic, while also harkening to a rainbow-producing prism.
