it's wild how fandom can be a safe space for nasty shit bc " ppl should be allowed to explore nasty shit freely and bc lol fantasy doesn't effect real life " but the second we're like hey don't be a nasty fuck or this is bad suddenly fandom isn't a safe space for anyone and we shouldn't police each other! and to expect fandom to be safe for anyone is somehow ridiculous, but like it's safe for the nasties and what a message that sends

I have such mixed feelings about this do whatever you want fandom rhetoric because one part of me totally agrees that people should have creative freedom to draw what and how they want to, but some things DO have real world implications and that is an issue that I would rather not dismiss completely when people in fandom are finally acknowledging it. We shouldn’t stand around pretending that there are zero real world consequences to art or that art is apolitical…

However I also hate how callouts have basically become harassment on this site. There is no talking or allowing for apology and growth, just accusations. There is a difference between like putting a cartoon character in nazi regalia and drawing a pairing that someone dislikes. The former deserves a callout or at least a call to attention, but the latter shouldn't be cause to condemn.

Y'know, the whole subplot of Natsuhi's "son" in Episode 5 kind of loses some of its effect in the visual novel when as soon as you hear the voice, you know who it is. I remember when I was reading the manga of it I had this bright shining moment of realization, but in this it's just "oh yeah, that's [spoiler], cool" and idk, it's not as exciting
