The fact that I have been in this fandom since 2020 and I haven't found a SINGLE animation of Wei Wuxian spinning Chenqing with Ievan Polkka playing in the background is deeply upsetting.
"Then make it"
My brethren in sin, I would if I knew HOW
Bruh, the RH fandom is so wild
Half of them don't know what a "joke" is
And the other half don't know what "gender norms" actually mean
Anywho, corporations don't need you to defend their decisions, they're going to make a profit either way.
Also reminds me of xcanadensis video on YouTube where she was unboxing dolls and mentions how complaining and actually holding companies to a higher standard actually gets them to make the changes we want to see.
now why is my wrapped making me feel like ive somehow betrayed taylor
It needs to be said, but pre-streaming fandoms are built different.
No hate to any new fandoms. They’re fun in their own right and God knows I’m in enough of them. But, there is no denying the difference between a show that dumps their episodes all at once and bounces and something like M*A*S*H that went off the air almost 40 years ago and still is chugging along.
People in new fandoms just go through fan works so quickly. It’s just more “content” with minimal engagement and no sense of community because as soon as the moment is over they’re onto the next thing. Even shows like The Mandalorian which show each episode weekly might last longer due to its staggered air time, but not much after.
I think that’s the main reason people are so nostalgic for tumblr circa 2012. Yes, it was cringe, but it was sincere cringe. We were here because we loved the works we talked about and wanted to find a community that lasted.
Now…it’s just not the same. Fan artists, writers, creators in general can’t develop that same community they once did because instead of followers seeing them as fellow fans, they see them as content creators. It’s sad. And I miss reading a comment or reblog from somebody excited to see something I created as a fellow fan, rather as an icon turning out a product.
Sometimes I get tired, but there is no place else to go. This is the last space where I can build that community and it’s dying. I hate that. I can only hope that some people learn and years down the line maybe some of these new fandoms will still be around chugging along with the best of them.
today my pagan brain rot has had me reading parts of a book on Triad rituals and mythology. yesterday it was Kowloon Walled City
and now i’m imagining some future hypothetical conversation where someone’s like “how come you know all this random shit like whose jurisdiction Kowloon Walled City was under anyway” (except no one ever asks me why i know a lot of random shit it’s just taken for granted but anyway) and i’ll be like
If you're still out here making headcanons about celebrities sexualities and shit, please go outside and touch some grass.
I feel like tumblr’s general desire to turn every character they find attractive into their BDSM “Daddy” has fundamentally misunderstood what makes these characters attractive in the first place. They’re losers. They’re soft. They’re practically canon confirmed of being a virgin. I didn’t say his name, but you thought of him.
