I mean, “fujoshi” is literally a Japanese word that describes a subculture that originated in Japan, but like, especially in western-dominated fandom spaces like tumblr I’m sure that’s true. there’s a whole other level of entitlement and fetishism that comes into play when you take racial dynamics into account— you see it especially often when it comes to white people fixating on anime (i.e. Japanese) characters, since that’s super common

I don't know what's worse: a) realizing the person that self-proclaims a fanboy/girl and has really dumb and/or dangerous opinions is over 30 and should be doing something else with their time, or b) realizing the person is indeed a kid, but trapped in a toxic circle of "friends", and you have to accept you can't help them, wish them the best, and move on.
