With all due respect, I really wish people would STOP miss tagging my posts.
If I'm referring to the Untamed, I'll tag it as such. Please stop insinuating my novel posts are referring to the CQL, it only causes arguments. If there's a crossover in what I'm saying, fine! But state that's the case 🙏🏻
Also, I resent anyone tagging anything as "anti Jiang Cheng" when that's completely wrong. Using "Anti JC" infers I am exaggerating or even fabricating things in regards to his character. I am not, I'm referencing canon.
Fandom Etiquette we need to bring back because some of ya’ll are THE WORST:
Don’t just Heart a post, Reblog it
Don’t just Kudos a fic, Comment on it
Go off in the tags. The tags are seriously underused/undervalued. This used to be the place where people gushed about what they were reblogging. Now people use it to...organize their blogs???...which is...weird??
If you reblog an ask meme from someone, you are obligated to send that person an ask in return. It’s a way of community building. It gets you into ask boxes you may not traditionally be in. It’s also god damn courtesy.
Thank your supporters/readers/followers!!! Fandoms would CRUMBLE without them and their kind words! They need to feel *just* as important as creators because a) they are and b) if you don’t appreciate them, like creators, they will go away.
Some fandom reminders:
Everyone joins a fandom for different reasons - people are inherently unique beings and we all have our motives
Everyone reads fic (or doesn’t read fic) for different reasons
Every author writes fic for different reasons
You cannot expect everyone to act as you do in fandom. You should expect that they are a fan of the same thing you are a fan of. That’s it.
okay okay but if i see one more person call toriel a christian/a catholic i will start blocking because, while clearly based on christianity, the delta rune religion is very much its own thing. it has a prophecy about three heroes. like. did we forget that. did we forget that this religion is going to have immense story significance and be more than just a stand-in for christianity
Some people in the fandom have got their heads so far up their own ass they think they are the only ones who can read a novel and think critically!
Ironically, unable to read one simple quote from another version of the novel without misinterpreting it completely.
People who make 'ladies/women of Shadowhunters' posts but don't include Maxim Roy and Nicola Correia Damude becaude womanhood has an expiration date apparently
Time to quite possibly lose some followers with a fandom gripe that’s been bugging me lately.
Confession: It bothers me when people post 10, 15, even 20 stories in a row to an open fanfiction archive. It pushes everyone else’s story off the recent list! It seems selfish and inconsiderate.
I don’t understand the reasoning, either. Posting MORE stories is probably going to get you LESS reads, because it’s overwhelming to see so many stories by one author. And then your stories disappear off the recents list in one big clump. Spread it out. Post a few one day, maybe a few another day. It will probably get you more reviews, and not all at once. Who wouldn’t want their stories out there longer? Or a bigger ego boost?
But please don’t story dump on the recents list. It’s doesn’t seem fair to other authors whose stories get lost because of it.
That sounds petty, I know. But I posted a new chapter to a fic this afternoon, and now there are EIGHTEEN stories by the SAME author above it. My update got pushed to the next page, and it’s only a few hours old. It makes me annoyed and disappointed, because some readers might miss the update now.
I probably shouldn’t post this. I’m sure there will be negative comments. Or maybe some people agree. I’m curious, now. Just keep it civil. And maybe be considerate of other authors when you’re posting your stories.
