Eren and Levi for 003

003 | Give me a character & I will tell you: Eren

How I feel about this character: He’s always been one of my favorites. Officially second favorite after Mikasa, but honestly, I’ve always loved them both equally. I love his character development (particularly in the Uprising arc), and I still sympathize with him deeply, but I’m not sure what to feel about him presently. Yeah, yeah, war forces people to commit cruel deeds and ‘ends justify the means’, and ‘if you don’t sacrifice something important…’ etcetera, but seeing a favorite character become a child killer is not easy. Not even the super-villains I used to stan for went this far. I really miss Eren’s spark. His passion. His love for humanity. There are still some traces of it left, it seems, but he looks and acts as if almost all the life has been sucked out of him, and it’s breaking my heart.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Eren was my Little Black Dress in this fandom, and I enjoyed shipping him with many characters, but Mikasa and Jean were my favorites.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Definitely his friendship with Historia.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I think he’s a great protagonist, and I wouldn’t want anyone else in this role.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish someone had talked to him about what had happened to Grisha and offered him some comfort. I was very upset when it didn’t happen.

Favorite friendship for this character: Mikasa/Armin and Historia.

My crossover ship: Eren/Mika from OnS for no deeper reason that I like them both and think it’d be fun.

How I feel about this character: I’ve vacillated between indifference and mild dislike for a long time, and finally settled on ‘detached appreciation’. He’s a good character. I just don’t feel much when it comes to him (the mild dislike was due to fanon portrayal only). Don’t know why. He should be my type.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I don’t really ship Levi with anyone, but the only people I could see him with canonically are Erwin and Hange.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Levi + his entire new squad. I love all the moments when he orders/asks them to survive.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I wouldn’t enjoy the series as much (or at all) if he was the protagonist. I like Levi best in small doses.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: His familial relationship with Mikasa was not explored at all, and I find it, frankly, baffling. Also, I hated the serumbowl, but I think the fallout should be explored in a bit more detail, including Levi’s emotional state after losing Erwin. Because losing the most important person in one’s life (which Erwin clearly was to Levi) is kind of a big deal.

Favorite friendship for this character: Hange
