Why exactly aren't people allowed to be disappointed at a lack of comments if they don't want cruel ones/ones that include unsolicited criticism (because I kind of suspect that op just wanted to complain on fanworks without being judged for it)? Like. Idk this reads as "Why are people complaining about a lack of interaction when they say not to hate on them??? Hating on them is interaction!"
Not all interaction is good interaction, and if all the comments I got were either just people giving me unhelpful unsolicited criticism ("real people don't do this", "most people don't know what (semi common word) means", "I don't like that you used the word cock instead of penis", etc) or straight up complaints, I'd be pretty miffed tbh. And I don't think I'd be invalid in being annoyed either.
Now, if this was moreso about how some people will go "no criticism please" and add a whole rules set around commenting ("no mentioning [blank], don't use these words, don't use emojis, don't keyboard smash"), then I get it. Having a ton of rules ends up making it difficult to comment without stirring a ton of anxiety. But if it's just "no criticism please", I guess I don't understand how it completely kills your want to comment. If you're making it a habit to offer unsolicited criticism, it honestly sounds like you're heading towards getting blocked/muted by authors.
I know I've blocked people for giving me unsolicited criticism before that was extremely unhelpful.
