Listen. I like Steven Universe. But as someone into gemology, it makes NO SENSE for the rubies to be foot soldiers.

Rubies historically were considered the rarest gems. The "king of gems" only suitable for nobility. Some nations outlawed commoners having this gem.

The rubies absolutely should have been higher up in the gem hierarchy. Like, WAYYYY up. Straight up nobility. Not expendable soldiers that act like meatheads.

Not arguing, just a counterpoint: rubies are ultra rare on EARTH, but we're talking about space gems here. Maybe rubies are really common on other planets? In which case the irony is kinda funny.
