Fandom Problem #5400:
Seeing everyone and their grandma get worked up over a celebrity voicing a long-running video game character in a modern-day animated movie just amuses me.
Not only because of how hypocritical everybody is by not batting an eye at the many other celebrities in the cast, but how faux they are in their care for voice actors.
"This movie highlights how mistreated voice actors are by the entertainment industry!"
Where was all this care and concern for voice actors, when not even 10 years ago, almost everyone was bullying voice actors into only voicing characters that matched their race?
And in case you are wondering: yes. This carried over to talking animal characters that are clearly "poc-coded" and any non-human characters that were given the same treatment by audiences.
I hope said movie gets more sequels and acts as a wake up call to everyone that partook in this drama and have the audacity to say they know what's best for voice actors.
