So this just Happened, yesterday!!!
I want to clear up something so there’s no confusion about WHO I am, and who I was BEFORE and what I do NOW.
I used to write Richonne fanfiction under CodeName-M.e on Fanfiction.net. Some of you may remember me, some of you may not. At the time, I was heavily involved in the Richonne community here on Tumblr and on Twitter. I even rallied Richonners to support blkgurlsmuse when she was being bullied on Fanfiction.net. I wasn’t the strongest writer — my tenses were a mess — and I was lucky to have a fellow Richonner who kindly edited for me before I uploaded (I am still forever grateful to you for that).
In 2017, my story Hunter of Screams was still a work in progress when I started getting sick. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but it turned out to be myasthenia gravis. I told blkgurlsmuse and a few others in the community, and one Richonner even visited me in the hospital. Writing became my outlet through illness, and music — especially Icehouse — was my lifeline. I’m a child of the 80s, and there was a reason Electric Blue ended up in Carl’s captivity scene in Weird Science (2/27/2017).
So when I saw her story titled Electric Blue, I loved it — I even remember sending, “Came here to say I love the title 3.” I wasn’t well that day and the “<” didn’t come through on my keyboard, so I hope she understood what I meant by it. As a matter fact prior to this; she and I went back and forth over her Breakfast Club story (which is really good, by the way), and she told me herself that she loved Electric Blue.
Why am I writing this? Because of the picture right here. I messaged her directly with, “I saw your profile on Fanfiction.net.” According to my Fanfic app, she had updated her profile a few times times, and I’d read the last two - wow, she is going through some stuff. Since returning to writing under CN Eden, I’ve gotten a handful of collab messages from people with no links to past work — just vague “blah blah blah”. I never responded, and then their accounts disappeared a few days later. I remember getting a few of those back when I was writing on Fanfiction.net, (peep the EleanorJames3544 pics // user does not exist) so it made me leery this time around too. In that sense, I understand where she was coming from.
And then she responded to me with what looked like “friendly curiosity,” but was really an interrogation:
“How long have you been in Richonne fandom?” → not nostalgia, but gatekeeping.
“I’ve noticed a few newer profiles popping up…” → not casual, but suspicion.
“Are you on AO3 or FFN too?” → not curiosity, but fishing for receipts.
“I’ve seen a few stories that feel familiar.” → not conversation, but accusation.
The kicker? She forgot who I was — even though I reintroduced myself before adding her.
OMG! She forgot who I was — even though I reintroduced myself before adding her. I thought my respond would just start her memory
Then she turned around and accused me of “adjacency” rather than engagement, and dismissed me as just a “vague pop-in” orbiting her work - dafuq! This is is wild.
CodeName-M.e is my Richonne account on Fanfiction.net.
4merSk8rGrl is my reading account.
CodeName_me is my AO3, which is strictly for roleplay and K-Pop (two stories only).
CN Eden is my current author name on Wattpad and Inkitt, where I’ve moved on to write original works (Dirty Black Summer).
Because she blocked me on Fanfiction.net and here, I don’t have access to our old messages or reviews — receipts that go back to 2014. That’s frustrating, because i love receipts. I only came back to the Richonne fandom in 2023 to finish Hunter of Screams because it was my baby. I owed myself and the Richonners who supported me the closure.
Since returning to writing as CN Eden, I’ve moved on from fanfiction and focused on building my own worlds (Dirty Black Summer – Seren and James). I’m proud of the story I’m telling now.
So here I am having to explain these pictures to the Richonne community. Wow, just wow.
