Trying to draw digimon always fries my brain but think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Gammamon is baby and too precious for this world... I need one.

I now have friends who really enjoy digimon and they've been encouraging me to get back on my digi!verse bullshit.

Sam -> Beryl/Berry (Lopmon) + Creme (Terriermon)

Nero -> Todd (Veemon) + Gyro (Gammamon)

Zev -> Dill (Elecmon) + Limos (Betamon)

Yes, Sam named the bunny twins off the old meme commercial. They're not her original partner so she can no longer bio-merge but Berry is the closest thing to her main digimon atm. Creme is super anxious and thankful her sister does most of the fighting.

Gyro technically belongs to both Zev and Nero but Nero tends to take him with him more. They found and named him when they were out getting food at a gyro stand.

Limos is a de-digivolved Leviamon that Zev is keeping in line. Limos seemed like a fitting name for him. Limos only agrees to behave and stay with him because he enjoys Zev's cooking... Dill is understandably concerned.

Ichimatsu had last remembered sleeping at his desk while studying some job interview book. Now he was in a strange world that he doesn’t recognize as he stumbled to walk around a bit. The creatures seemed odd.

Ken breathes like clockwork, gears ticking and clicking, routine engraved in his joints so that he doesn’t slip, memories locked somewhere deep until he gives in to sleep.

Hikari has taught him some breathing exercises too, spells to drown his mind in a haze when he wakes up in the middle of the night with fingers clawing at the sheets and the past clawing at his heart. He hasn’t piloted a jaeger in years, has built himself a barricade of excuses and papers that crumbles to the ground in one go the day a rookie with potential sparkling in his eyes asks for him.

It starts with them sparring together sometimes, something just a bit too sharp to be called excitement running through his body as he makes Motomiya trip and fall on the ground at his feet, wooden stick pressed against buzzing bones.

It starts easy (he says to himself it’s just one more way not to think) until one day Motomiya Daisuke, newcomer with trouble under his fingertips and legs too eager to run to be steady, snatches his first victory from him.

Ken hasn’t piloted a jaeger in years but the memories (the good ones, the rush of adrenaline, the trust, the roar of his, their, jaeger echoing his own) still burn bright, brighter than Motomiya’s expression when Ken laughs, haywire.

“I’m not scared of your past,” Motomiya tells him before their first drift, “so you shouldn’t be either because we’re partners, okay, we’ve got this.”

And so Ken does, keeps his eyes open as the countdown reaches its end and lets his mind open for Motomiya to see; he gets laughter in return, and memories of sunny days spent playing football, and a girl who looks a lot like Motomiya but is twice as loud somehow.

The synch up and Paildramon glows, follows their movements in fluid motions, doesn't falter once.

When they’re done there’s Osamu’s voice lingering in his ears, popping into nothing like bubbles as Motomiya bumps their fists together, tells him the rhythm of his heartbeat is the gentlest sound he’s ever heard.

She holds her wand with both hands, a prayer, eyes closed as her mind goes back through the years. When it stops she’s home, feet bare against the kitchen pavement, flour all over her head.

Taichi is right beside her, what looks like dough smeared on his cheeks and yolk on his fingers.

They’re making a cake (or rather, they’re attempting to) and Hikari laughs as her mother tries to brush the flour away from the both of them, slips out of her grasp with a smile to crouch down next to Taichi who’s looking at the oven as if it could suddenly eat their cake in one piece.

She laughs again and now the memory is swirling around her, light pouring out of her wand in the shape of what looks like a crane, wings spread open above her head. Daisuke yelps something from the other side of the room, voice tripping over as Miyako chops him on the head (You’re going to break her focus, keep quiet!); there’s Takeru’s laughter too, somewhere near, and Taichi’s proud eyes meeting hers as he bows down.

Hikari grins, holds her wand up like victory.
