It was late night on Midgard. Loki had been restless all night, something continually weighing on his chest. He couldn't bring himself to sleep, pacing for a brief period of time or trying to read a book in order to pass the time quickly. However, nothing seemed to hold his attention for long, a sense of frustration welling up in his core. The God of Mischief scowled in aggravation, taking a seat on the edge of his bed.
It had been a while since he had gone to see his companion, a frown marring his typically elegant features. He had grown fond of the mortal in their time together, the softening of his heart not lost on him. There was loneliness in the atmosphere, not having Bucky by his side. Deciding it would benefit the both of them if he should pay a visit, Loki focused his seiðr and began to dreamwalk.
The color seemed to fade from the world that he found himself in, a blur of ugly neutrals, the humming of electronics, and something ominous in the air. As the surroundings cleared from the cloudy haze of walking between realms, the trickster could make out some sort of... lab. There was a chair in the center with straps bolted to the arms and the bottom of the seat, a semi-circular metal ring mounted above it, and monitors on either side with tracking for vitals. While Loki had been examining the scene more closely, a mix of caution and uncertainty in his chest, Bucky had materialized in the seat, a guard planted in his mouth...
The circular ring began to quietly whir, breaking apart as it came closer to the soldier's temple. Loki's eyes widenened a fraction as he caught the flicker of electricity shooting through the ends of the machine. Realizing that Bucky was in danger — at least, in the nightmare realm — he moved quickly and crossed the threshold in long strides, forming a dagger in his palm. With a few quick cuts, he was already ripping his companion away from the ring, forcing him to sit up.
"Whatever will I do with you?" he murmured, more to himself than Bucky, as he knelt down and sliced through the straps around his legs. Loki had probed around in the mortal's memories before, even ones he had locked away in the depths of his subconscious, and he knew exactly what the scene before him was. It made his heart ache, although he kept his composure, standing up and lifting him from the chair. "You're safe now," the God reassured him, trying to soothe any distress he might be feeling, as he delicately removed the guard and settled onto the floor with him.

Loki had gone to visit Bucky again for the umpteenth time. After the winter soldier had saved the God from succumbing to fatal wounds in the snowfall of Russia, he had grown rather fond of the mortal, eventually staying in the cabin together. With the passage of time and the winter season came new experiences for the trickster; hot chocolate by the fire, snowmen and snowballs, desserts and Christmas movies. The cool air came creeping in through cracks and hollows of the home, icy breath gripping the village tightly as the tides of winter wracked its inhabitants.
Yet, lying undisturbed in the stillness, Loki was enveloped in Bucky's arms. His legs were stretched out and half tangled with the soldier's, lips pressed lightly against his shoulder as he slept soundly. Gentle breathing filled the room, providing a sense of solace within the early morning hours while remnants of the previous night gradually evaporated. Soon, the God stirred from his slumber, blinking away blurry shapes until Bucky's features — softened with sleep — came into focus.
It wasn't long before memories from the night before began to resurface. They had curled up with one another, low whispers into the stillness of the night until sleep had finally overcome them. A ghost of a smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he took in the soldier's countenance, from the way his stubble shadowed his features to the long, errant chestnut strands that pooled across the pillow. Shifting slightly, careful not to wake Bucky, the trickster pressed his lips against his chin in a feather-light kiss.
Loki sat on the floor with his back leaned up against a wall in the corner of the palaces library. It was extremely unlikely that Thor and his friends would enter such a place; the God of Thunder had many talents, but being intelligent wasn’t one of them. However, he preferred to keep himself out of sight nonetheless in hopes that his brother or anyone else might keep from bothering him. Out of the corner of his eye Loki spotted movement. The woman was quick in her stride and had it been anyone else she might have been able to sneak by unnoticed, but the God of Mischief had a habit of being hypervigilant with his surroundings. “So it seems we’re both ignoring our responsibilities today,” he said, eyes still glued to the book in his hand.

The God had been planning this out for weeks now. While he typically didn't partake in the Midgardian celebration of Valentine's Day, he knew that a particular mortal he had been growing fond of had been looking forward to the date. Taking the opportunity to delve further into the traditions and customs of the holiday, he found himself a tad inspired, head swimming in the plethora of cards, candies, decorations, and romantic gestures. He had always been a little... theatrical, even perhaps a bit eccentric, and Steve didn't seem to mind — to which he used that to his advantage.
When the opportunity arose, he slipped away to Midgard, leaving an invitation upon Rogers' bed, requesting to meet at a private location when Valentine's Day arrived, with the words, "I would very much like you to be my Valentine, if you'll have me." Loki had spent time pouring over a love letter to give him, re-reading and re-writing it countless times until he was satisfied with its contents. He conjured up a bouquet of lillies, speckled and shimmering, something unique to Asgard — symbolically, a piece of himself to give to Steve — and placed them in a vase nearby the table they were to dine at. Once he had set up the decor, the God focused on their meal.
When the blond arrived, the table had been set with their main course, the finest Midgardian red wine, grapes, strawberries, and a small heart shaped cake to split for dessert. There were taper and vanilla-scented candles, wine glasses, a small teddy bear with a heart, and a few floral pieces for decoration. Soft music played, a mix of love songs from the past few decades offering a calm and sweet ambiance. The letter he had written for him was propped against the bouquet he had placed off to the side.
The trickster wore an ebony suit, tailor made and befitting of the atmosphere he had painted. Part of him felt a bit nervous, as though he might reject the affectionate display. However, the evening went off without a hitch and the two of them found themselves sharing stories, laughter, and a good meal. Once dessert had been finished, Loki knew it was now or never.
Moving a bit closer, his hand found its way to his lower back in a tender gesture, drawing Steve's attention to him. A small smile formed on his face, a subtle glimmer of hope dancing in Loki's demeanor as he observed the mortal before him. Leaning forward so that they were mere inches apart, he hesitated, giving the blond a moment to pull away if he so wished to. But, when he stayed still, the God gradually closed the distance and captured his lips in a tentative but decided kiss, his other hand lifting to cup his cheek.
His heart swelled with affection for the man beneath his touch, a rare warmth stirring in his chest. After a long moment, they broke away from one another. "I've been thinking lately," he began a bit softer than usual, his voice low and charming. "There are a lot of Midgardians, although none quite like yourself. I find myself enjoying our time together, and..." Loki paused, his eyes flickering over the soldier's expression before he continued, "I think that there may be something more here than mere cordial company."

There had been a massive heat wave in the area, just in time for the cooling unit in the Avengers Tower to have busted. The sweltering summer heat had begun to get to Loki, causing the trickster to feel lightheaded and as though he were burning up. His typically pale skin was somewhat flushed, a thin sheen of sweat glistening against his skin. "I think... I must have fallen ill," he murmured, sort of out of it, his brows furrowing together with a mix of confusion and concern.

The God of Mischief had been in the library on Midgard, curiously scouring through the texts. It was a rare moment of quietude, the sun shining through the tall, arched windows and illuminating the area in soft aureate rays. He heard the sound of faint footsteps approaching, stealing a subtle glance over his shoulder and spotting Rose. With a hint of a smile, he turned toward her, verdant gaze flickering over her features.
"Ah, Rose," came his steady greeting, "A pleasure to see you, as always." When she stepped closer and looped her arms around him, he blinked a few times at the unexpected gesture. "Everything all right, Princess?" he mused lowly, brows furrowing slightly in concern. Loki enveloped her in a gentle, warm embrace, one hand delicately brushing his fingers through her hair.

Thor's brows knit together as he casts a downward glance, catching sight of something lightly shiny along the fabric that lined his breastplate. He seemed to hesitate briefly before lifting his gaze to meet Loki's once again, his expression laced with a sense of steadfastness. The God of Thunder gave a reassuring ghost of a smile, suppressing the pain from the injury. "You act as if this were the first time, brother," he replied in a low, rumbling voice.
Pietro leaned against the wall, arms crossed over his chest as he waited for his sister to say something. Eyes that once held so much emotion now appeared soulless to anyone who bothered to look long enough. When Wanda didn’t say anything, he took it upon himself to break the silence. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Pietro said. The cheeky grin; that always appeared after a witty comment of his was said, formed on his lips.
