I'm not the education of Peeta Mellark poster, but I would love your old fic recommendations!
Okay so I know this has been in my Inbox for... a while... but I've been thinking about it for the ENTIRE time. Here is literally only SOME of my old fic recs, le classiques as one might say (aka the ones I read when I was 13 and are in brain forever).
PSA: Some of these, I have not reread since I was 15-16. Also not in any order in particular. Whatever I could remember first :)
There is a bunch more but I barely managed to fit the below in! Thanks for asking I like talking about fics I love <33
Alone In A Crowded Room by wollaston & Pompeiigraffiti (aka alonglineofbread on tumblr) - AO3 & FFN
If you've spent even 10 minutes talking to me about everlark fics, you will know how much I love this fic - how much it meant to me as a starry-eyed 15 year old. And shockingly to no one, it still means that much to me 10 years later. Genuinely, if you can stand to read the difficult topics in this one, you should read it. Required reading in my eyes lol
Rebel by HGRomance - AO3 & FFN
In my books, if a fic inspired art then it's perfect. Peak. Incredible. I don't actually remember much of the plot of this one but it found me at a time when I was obsessed with those "Leaving Amish" shows so... great timing! Anyway, Katniss is Amish, Peeta is a bad boyyy!
Flesh and Bone by BaronessMeggie (BaronessKika and MeggieMellark) - FFN
This is another I don't quite remember the plot of perfectly but the scene at the lake has been ingrained in my brain. If you loved the new Superman movie then this fic might be for you! It's Super!Peeta and Lois Lane!Katniss.
In 2020, sadly we lost Kristin (BaronessKika) but she was a beloved member of the community and her loss is still felt greatly today. My follow up rec is another fic by her: All the President's Men by authoresskika - FFN
In My Head, In My Heart by iLoVeRynMar (aka thegirlonpeetamellark on tumblr) - FFN
I have a completely parasocial relationship with some authors from the 2012 - 2014 era. One of them is iLoVeRynMar. In My Head, In My Heart and She Let Me In Her Bed were 2 of the first fics I ever read and then I found a lot of my favourites from her own recommendations. Truly what a person to randomly bump into on the internet. Thank you, truly <3
After they lose both their parents young, Katniss is forced to hand Prim over to their distant aunt as she was named a legal guardian in the will. Katniss needs to get Prim back, she needs to becoming her legal guardian but to do so she has to go through grief counselling - where she meets a certain Peeta Mellark.

Hope you feel better friend!! 💛🐮💐🫶❤️🔥

Thank you @firehelpmeforget the plague might have consumed me but I’ll consume it back 🫂
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
So, I’ve already give an answer to this here so here’s my other favourite passage I’ve written this year! It’s from a little birthday one-shot I wrote called “Poor, Lovesick Lug”:
And she is there, too. Standing on her own porch across the lawn, dressed in only a nightgown, a blanket hurriedly thrown over her shoulders. In the moonlight her sleep dress looks translucent, her body a shadow underneath it, the fragmented light grazing her skin makes her look like she's glowing. She's as ethereal as ever, like a creature born from the night itself.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
That you can be super excited to write and participate in fandom events but time is finite, work is necessary and you can fall asleep on your desk one too many times.
And that I am terminally afflicted by “compare myself disease” and the only way to mend it is to talk to the writers you look up to, become their friend, get them to beta for you or teach you how to draw. And if none of these succeed, just spitball AUs with them until they like you 😉

Hiii @cafeinama and thanks for the ask!
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
I think I’ve used “yearning so badly it’s terminal” the most 😂
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
This is a passage from Chapter 1 of my Toast Baby Week submission “A Bad Day Like This”. It’s genuinely one of my favourite things that I’ve written ever:
I look up at the ceiling, tears prickling my eyes. I catch Peeta’s eyes on us briefly, a knowing sad look in his face. That expanding and deflating grief that’s rooted comfortably at the baseline of our lives.
I would be a liar to say I never was jealous of Prim. Her similarities to our mother. The kindness and joy – which I had fought tirelessly to preserve, yet one I never got to have. Even during those first excruciating years, when Prim’s absence was louder than her existence ever was, jealousy had snuck up on me. Why did I get to live that miserable existence? Why did she get to lie somewhere peaceful while I suffered?
Exhaustion threatens me again but blanketing it is something soft. A warmth, radiating through my body and down to the edges of my limbs, starting from where Willow and Rye have their heads resting on my chest. Today will be filed as one of my worst days. One of those never-ending days where everything goes wrong. The days where I fail and I am powerless to it.
But what a joy for such a non-distinct day – one whose troubles boil down to a bad cold, a stolen toy and some broken fridges; one that in a few days will be laughed at, one that in a few months will be forgotten – to be filed as bad.
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
I have The Plague™️ and I’m answering some questions
Ahhh hi @you-askedforthis and thanks for the ask!
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Okay this might be silly but earlier last week I wrote this dumbass crack fic about what if a painting Katniss made was actually supernatural and haunted Peeta. It’s… a 3000 words long dick joke. And it was the most fun I had writing fanfiction in a VERY long time.
I have the unfortunate tendency of being very harsh on myself and my writing but writing something THIS silly and this not-for-me (it was a birthday fic for my dear @dandelionsunset1210) was freeing? In a way?
You can read it here 🥖
This is me bestowing you to go write crack. Do it. It’s the best
5, 11 and 27 for the AO3 wrapped writers edition?!
I have the Plague™️ and I’m answer some questions
Hi @lilybird23, thanks for the ask 🪩
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
For The Mission was a small one-shot I wrote for @mage-chocolate’s. It was inspired by the manga and anime “Spy X Family” and I never really thought anyone but Mage would read it. Come to find out some people got invested in the story and I have gotten DMs and some comments asking me to expand on the world 😅 who knows… maybe one day?
11. What work took you the longest to write?
One For The Money, Two For The Show is my child and my baby. It was the fic that brought me back to the world of fanfiction after a 10 years. I love it and all the plans I have for it and because of that, it takes me ages to write anything. I put care into everything I write but especially that. I want every chapter to be exactly as I imagine it.
27. What do you listen to while writing?
Video Game soundtracks! I can’t for the life of me listen to words while I’m writing different words so I go for soundtracks.
My rotation specifically is:
a. Stardew Valley
b. Final Fantasy X
c. the one minute long transitional song in Waitress The Musical “Pomatter Pie” which was literally my 2nd most listened to song on Spotify wrapped because I listen to it SO MUCH lol
