Chapter 4 coming soon… 🦂🌙🖤♥️🤍
The sun filters in behind the curtains. A soft glow spreads across the bed. Tim's been awake for a while. He hasn’t moved; Lucy’s breathing right next to him. There’s something quiet settling in his chest. It’s not looking for words. She’s still asleep, curled up in his shirt. Her ring catches a bit of light. A breath slips past her lips, a strand of hair sticks to her cheek. Tim could cry—not out of sadness. Just the raw, plain reality of it. He shifts a little, the blanket slips down. The silence is heavy, very much alive. Nothing to build—just there, given as it is. Maybe this is the celebration: her, alive, pressed against him, and him still here enough to feel it. She barely moves, reaches for his hand, finds it. Their palms close; nothing more needs to be said. He kisses the top of her head. "You’re awake?" Her voice, rough. "Been up a while." She leans in closer, all wrapped up. "Morning, husband." The word warms his skin. He kisses her again, fingers lost in her hair. " You hungry?" "Always… just not if it means leaving this bed." He lets out a tiny laugh. Of course. Lucy could take down a guy in broad daylight, but she can’t face a blanket on a Sunday. He pulls the sheet up over her shoulders. "Don’t move. I’ll bring us something." The floor is cold. He throws on an old hoodie. In the kitchen, the kettle sings, pancake batter stirs, cinnamon fogs up the air. Lucy lingers a little longer, hand resting on her ring. Then grabs some socks, ties her hair up, and joins him. On the table: two mugs, some fruit, a slightly crooked stack of pancakes. She laughs, kisses him. The toaster pops. They eat leaning against the counter, sharing pancakes, licking syrup off their fingers, stealing sips of coffee from each other. Tim keeps staring at the ring on her finger, like he’s hypnotized. " So, what’s the plan today, Mrs. BradFord?" Her chin on his shoulder. "Nothing. Lounge around, old movie, count how many times you blush when you call me that." "Sounds perfect." She looks at the light creeping across the living room, then turns back to him. "I thought it’d feel overwhelming. It’s just… soft." "The vertigo can wait," he whispers. He kisses her. For a while. A phone vibrates somewhere. Neither of them moves. The world can wait.
