Ideas... They come and go... I'll like a game with my little schizphrenic X
brewing a lil fangame idea in my head this morning from atop my tower (this is why the blog is named Hermit Dreams, by the way!)
basic foundation is Mario Land (like, 1 & 2)
plot hook is a message in a bottle: "To whomever this may find, help! I am unsure where I am being held, but I am being held. This bottle should have left a trail you can follow to find me! It is dark and I am scared. Signed - Onion."
Three Playable Characters: Mario, Daisy, Wario.
Mario does not behave like NSMB Mario. The movement and skills he has resemble Mario Land and Donkey Kong (GB). Very basic movement unless you are advanced enough to dip into triple jumps, backflips, etc, which can sustain fall damage if you miss your landing.
Daisy...I haven't figured out so hop on this ride with me while I brew this up. Daisy has a slow drift like Peach's Parasol but it's a Flower with the petals falling off gradually, making you descend faster with each one that drops. Daisy has the lowest jump of the three but gets wallkicks that increase her horizontal speed until landing.
Wario is Wario. His jump is between Mario and Daisy's height, his forte is charging forward or downward to break blocks, and he can throw pickups like bombs or springs in more directions.
Who is Onion? Onion could possibly be a 4th playable character unlocked after doing the first world or just a silly twist at the end of the game. Onion is not a princess, nor any other royalty. Onion is just an ungendered random person that got kidnapped, named such because Peach is a fruit, Daisy is a flower, and so Onion is a 5-letter vegetable.
Where would this take place? Probably starting in Mario's Castle from the end of SML2, and then working backwards through the environments displayed in Wario's Woods (SNES), given some more flair based on areas from Odyssey and Wario World.
