✧ * º • ☾ Thea could hardly concentrate let alone find Blaise in this blasted Mansion.  She felt woozy and very untogether.  Mystic Falls was nothing like Thea has ever known.  Accustomed to more oceans, deserts, and nature-esque with wide open spaces, glittering stars,  The sensual and visceral, power of the ocean, compelling depth of the forest, sun or moon glowed sand, dusty alleyways, towering mountains, and most of all the z i n g of magic that blew in the breezes.  

Mystic Falls was different like an Amazon jungle unexplored and lurking with predators.  Everything felt like a dangerous gamble and that was Blaise's territory.  She saw that glint in her eyes the moment they walked through the Lockwood Mansion that meant she’s up to trouble tonight passing a sea of unfamiliar faces that blurred as she passed them by.  Having a scent of a lovely dreamer - the scent that made anyone feel their dreams were possible.  Soft. Graceful.  An optimistic blend with hints of Nymphaea lotus and white iris.  Finding the only familiarness were the flowers she slowly took while searching for her cousin.

Children and their incessant need for such vexatious gatherings, though considering his sisters wishes he would not be one to say a word regarding his opinion on such things; they all needed their cover, admittedly Elijah would’ve preferred something else for his sister and something that didn’t involve needing to hold a party such as this but beggars can’t be choosers…or so the saying goes.

He’d chosen to establish himself in the quieter section of the house, hoping for little disturbances while he simply festered or did something of value with his time…of course hearing footsteps that seemed to evidently be foiling such a plan caused a little frustration though the original made it so his features weren’t to show such.

He stayed where he was, stoic in nature regardless of how human he acted for the sake of his appearance being kept. Allowing a smile that made him seem warmer than perhaps the truth was, pass his lips.

“I do believe the party is at the other side of the house.” his words were simple, he assumed the person to simply be wondering. Though he’d only know their intentions when they presented themselves.

invitations have officially been sent out to everyone for the 2009 FOUNDER’S BALL. the founding families have organized this event in order to show the heritage and history of mystic falls, as was done at the very first founder’s party on september 24th, 1864. while it may seem like an innocent gathering, the council has much more in store than everyone may think. the invitation details that the event will take place on the night of SEPTEMBER 25TH at the lockwood mansion. there will be food, drinks, dancing, and full displays of rich history and artifacts for your viewing pleasure. dates are highly advised, but not mandatory. formal wear is required.

this event’s first twist is that upon arrival, regardless of whether or not someone has brought a date with them, they will be paired randomly with another guest. while they do not have to spend the whole night with said guest, they do have to take photographs, walk through the house together briefly, and dance with one another during the first dance.

the founding families have organized this as a way to symbolize that, no matter how long or little someone has been in town or if they’re complete strangers, we all stand together. the first dance and this twist will be in homage to SYDNEY MURE, who was recently killed during an animal attack and is still being grieved. characters will NOT be aware of any of this until they arrive. the admins will be choosing pairs randomly, but some will be chosen in order to stir up drama.

out of character, this event will begin at 5 PM on JULY 27TH and end at 12 AM on AUGUST 7TH. we ask that all pre-event threads be put on pause until the event is over.

Nadia walked in and let the wave of music pour over her. She could hear it from outside, but it had been so GARGLED. Walking to the home felt like breaking her head through water. “WOW,” she spoke, though it sounded a whisper. “For a new kid in town sounds like this girl is having a pretty good party.” She grinned. She tapped the first person in the place on the shoulder. “Do you know where to get a drink?”

          SHE WASN’T EXACTLY SURE WHY SHE WAS THERE .   the house was full of underage teenagers drinking the way she had only four or so years ago . truth be told , she would still drink like that now . locating the bar that needed some serious organization , she decided almost immediately to be the self-appointed bartender . opening herself a beer first , she waited for the first kid to come stumbling toward the table . instinctively , she wanted to help . coffee , food , water .. but this was a party . the least she could do was try to find some normalcy .      ‘   so what’ll it be .. juice  ?   soda  ?   ’

          HE’D ONLY BEEN BACK A FEW HOURS ,    &   it seemed half the town was celebrating . the back to school parties . it brought him back to when they were younger , how much he’d looked forward to the concept . to growing up with his friends , in the town he called home . now he felt like a stranger . with his head down   &   new phone in hand  –––––––  he figured it couldn’t hurt to check it out . especially when it seemed it should be dying down at any moment . hovering on the outskirts of the mansion , he waited to see a familiar face . any sign of his old life .

          DAVINA  WAS  COMPLETELY  CLUELESS  WHEN  IT  CAME  TO  HER  TOLERANCE  ,  after  all  she’d  had  very  little  experience  with  alcohol  prior  to  the  party  .  it  was  in  the  brunette’s  best  interest  to  stay  away  from  booze  to  best  keep  her  mind  clear  in  case  of  supernatural  -  emergency  ,  but  who  was  she  to  miss  out  on  what  could’ve  been  the  biggest  party  of  the  year  ?  it  started  with  a  few  beers  that  wrinkled  her  nose  ,  though  it  soon  turned  to  amber  liquid  that  burned  her  throat  .  tipsiness  was  warm  &  fun  ,  but  this  ?  it  wasn’t  something  she  wanted  by  any  means  .  if  marcel  could  see  her  now  ,  he  would  probably  want  to  find  a  new  attic  for  her  to  live  in  .  as  for  now  ,  she  needed  to  get  out  of  that  crowded  place  and  catch  a  breath  of  fresh  air  .  the  brunette  remained  close  to  the  wall  as  she  moved  toward  the  front  door  ,  practically  requiring  it  for  support  while  she  passed  other  party  -  goers  who  were  clearly  far  more  experienced  .  davina  wasted  no  time  in  plopping  down  on  the  front  steps  and  hugging  her  knee  to  her  chest  ,  only  lifting  her  head  as  she  felt  someone  else’s  presence  .  “  when  does  this  feeling  wear  off  ?  ”

in less than 24 hours, the 2009 founder’s ball will officially begin! the admin team has decided to post the pairings, as well as the pairings’ requirements early, so plotting can ensue prior to the beginning of the event. however, event threads are not to officially begin until FRIDAY, JULY 27 at 5:00 PM EST. below, you’ll find a list of all the requirements for the couples, as they are told at the beginning of the ball. please try to have your thread be a priority before other threads, as these are mandatory requirements from the founding families. if you do not finish before the event ends due to running low on time, feel free to finish up on chatzy or discord and post the transcript so we know what happened. **** length does not matter, and shorter things are highly encouraged since the main goal of this should be to have characters converse through these activities. we would rather threads be short and have characters get through these requirements than have threads be long and only get 2-3 notes before the end of the event.

first dance of the night. the first dance of the ball is to be completed in the provided pairs, and from there the attendees are allowed to go about the ball freely. dancing is mandatory.

walk around & take pictures. there will be cameras and photographers around to make sure that a photo is snapped of every pairing, but this can also include selfies. characters must circle the mansion together at least once and they will be watched so as to make sure they are with their chosen partner. feel free to make edits or aesthetics to represent their experience!

a note on pairings--these have all been completely randomized, not hand-picked by the admins. some couples were adjusted after going through the generator, as some members may have been paired with their own characters. these pairings were chosen based on those who are not on hiatus. if your character is not on the list, please let us know so we can add them!
