AFTER THE EMBARRASSMENT FROM HER DRUNKEN BEHAVIOR AT THE PARTY PASSED , gratitude swiftly took its place . sure , she drank a little too much and felt the effects of it the following morning , though josh’s help stuck out in her memory . the two were in the early stages of friendship and his kindness toward the brunette in her moment of weakness meant an awful lot , which is something she was keen on expressing . they crossed paths once again outside the grill ( truth be told , she saw him from across the courtyard and near sprinted over toward him ) where the witch greeted him with a bright smile . “ hey ! i just wanted to thank you for helping me out at the party last weekend . can i buy you lunch ? ”

DAVINA HAD ONLY HEARD ABOUT THE FIGHT . after all , word travels fast in a town as small as mystic falls . she was drunk at the time & far too invested in her red solo cup to care about two guys beefing it out , though interest was piqued as whispers moved down hallways the following monday . the brunette had few interactions with tyler to properly form an opinion and while she wasn’t one to let the rumor mill deter her from making her own views , the battle scars he fashioned spoke volumes . the two were now stood at the same bulletin board where they first exchanged words , silence ( save for the hustle & bustle of students moving to fifth period ) fell between them , but she soon broke it in favor of being a smart ass . “ i don’t see any fliers for a fight club , though i’ve heard the first rule isn’t to talk about it . ”

“little miss jazz can’t handle her liquor? pity.” the slightest hint of mocking in his voice, but only lovingly. “i expected more from you. you sure you’re from new orleans?” all the same, he sat down next to her and handed over a bottle of water and a handful of crackers he’d snagged from the kitchen. “drink some water, eat a little to soak up the booze. if you’re feeling miserable, then the worst is probably over. you’ll start feeling better soon, don’t worry. you’re in good company.”
PALE GREEN EYES PRACTICALLY ROLLED BACK INTO HER SKULL at josh’s sarcasm , truthfully not in the mood to joke around . “ mr. pots & pans to the rescue , then ? ” well , maybe a little . davina gladly took the water and crackers from him and wasted no time in crunching down , crumbs collecting at the corners of her mouth . “ thanks ... i don’t really drink and i guess i just went a little ... overboard . ”

SHE TOOK A QUICK STEP BACK , now steady on her own two feet & a slight tinge of embarrassment on her face . she’d already made a bad impression . great. lips pursed , she chuckled slightly , her eyes wandering around their surroundings to make sure no one else had seen her almost fall . ‘ i wish i could say i was . are rich people parties supposed to be this boring ? ’ she raised her eyebrows a little , taking a sip from her cup . ‘ i’m hayley . i’m new . ’
WHO WAS DAVINA TO JUDGE FOR THE OTHER’S MISSTEP ? she’d made a few of her own to get to the spot where she stood now , after all weaving through a sea of people while under the influence wasn’t the easiest thing . the brunette first replied with a shrug , her experience with parties in general being very limited . “ i’m not sure , they sure don’t seem this wild in the movies , though . ” a wide smile spread from ear to ear , thankful to meet someone else who was new and relatively in the same boat . “ davina –––– nice to meet you , hayley . i’m new , too . ”

Kol chuckled at the annoyance written all over her face. She’d always preferred feisty people and although very drunk this girl still seemed like a fire cracker. “They do say that love although I doubt you’ll find anything that doesn’t contain alcohol in that kitchen.” At least he hadn’t seen anything not containing alcohol since he arrived in the house. “Perhaps your first time getting this drunk should have been with some friends around you. Are your friends ar the party?”
HIS CHUCKLE ONLY FUELED HER DRUNKEN ANGER , emotion deeply rooted in the embarrassment she was sure she’d feel the following days if the two were to cross paths again . which she secretly hoped they wouldn’t . “ yeah , ” davina replied with a sigh as green eyes lowered , “ but i don’t want to bother them . being new to the friend group is stressful enough as it is , i wasn’t about to be their shadow this whole time –––– let alone ask on of them to hold my hair now . ”

having decided to step outside for a moment for a breath of air, the witch finally made use of the water she been forced to take given earlier…well sorta. admittedly she had only drank a little of it but that still had to count for something right? nonetheless she’d probably regret it in the morning. making her way back inside with a stumble or two along the way, mai stopped short at the front steps when she saw davina sitting or rather curled up. although it wasn’t intentional or out of malice, the girl couldn’t help but laugh. “wow you look bad and you also look like you need this more than me.” she said as she held out the water bottle. “it’ll go away when you sober up, but for now you just gotta roll with it.” the witch said as she took a seat next to davina on the steps.
IF THERE WAS A WAY TO MAKE HERSELF DISAPPEAR , davina would’ve done it . things had been turbulent with mai in their last conversation , which was completely the younger’s fault , yet she still expressed an act of kindness . the brunette gladly took the bottle with a mumbled thank you before quickly unscrewing the top and taking a long drink , relieved to have something other than alcohol pass her lips . “ i bet you think i’m really pathetic , huh ? ” she asked before taking another sip , scoff preceding the answer to her own question . “ it’s okay , ‘cause i kinda am . girl gets sloppy drunk at her first party ? how humiliating . ”

there was only one downside to hosting a party and that was the possibility of drunken teens messing up her house , sure she wasn’t the one going to clean it , she’d hire someone for that , but still , she didn’t want their sick on her carpet . ‘ first time , i’d say in about three days . ’ she taunted as she followed behind the girl , her own cup still filled to the rim with a drink much stronger than whatever this girl had been drinking . . ‘ the more you drink the less it feels like this . but i can suggest eating something . ’ one could say that maybe her words were friendly but the only reason as too why would be she’d rather not have the girl sick in her yard .
THE MENTAL DOTS WEREN’T CONNECTING , this primarily due to the petite brunette’s inebriated state . she knew the party was being thrown by a mikaelson , a name she’d grown to despise thanks to her close relationship with marcel gerard , and decided to attend under the cover of a random block party to better investigate the family . davina only knew of horror stories attached to the clan of original vampires & knew that if she told her guardian where she was really going , he’d never allow it –––– and for good reason . a powerful witch against a powerful group of vampires ? not a good combination . though she soon was swept under the wave of partygoers and completely forwent the true reason she went , instead opting for throwing back copious amounts of alcohol to get a better feel of teenagehood . had she been in the right state of mind , a negative reaction would’ve surfaced in the presence of rebekah mikaelson herself . but davina wasn’t in the correct state of mind to start anything she admittedly couldn’t finish in her current condition , and truth be told , she didn’t even recognize the blonde to be the mikaelson sister . “ i’m so screwed . ” the witch groaned as hands met face , warmth spreading over pale cheeks . “ do you think there’s any food in there ? all i saw was booze , booze , and more booze . ”

SHE’D DECIDED TO WANDER BACK , only because her drink was abysmally empty & maybe socializing was an important aspect to being in high school . to being a normal high school student . making her way to the bar , plastic red cup in hand , she poured herself a whiskey . if she was going to mingle in a house full of vampire , the least she could do was throw down some more expensive liquor . tripping over a cup on the floor , she found herself almost falling into another girl ––––––– catching herself with her arms around the other’s shoulders . ‘ oh wow , i’m so sorry . i’m not usually this .. clumsy . ’

SHE WAS STILL IN THE EARLY STAGES OF HER TIPSINESS , warmth spreading throughout her body and giggles falling from her lips . it felt good to be on her own for just a few hours and act as though she were a typical teenager , drinking and partying with her peers . davina’s mind raced while she scoped out the crowd , taking small sips from her own red cup before she was quickly brought back down to reality when she made contact with the other . “ woah there ! ” the brunette exclaimed , a laugh bubbling up from within her as hands moved to grip the arms around her . “ someone’s having fun , huh ? ”

Kol had been outside for a snack, one that he had uncharacteristically compelled and let go on their way. Before he walked closer to the house he licked his lips and wiped them with his sleeve to rid his face of any remaining blood. He wasn’t willing to expose himself and end up back in a coffin just yet, not when he was already having so much fun with the population of Mystic Falls. As he walked up the steps to the house he saw a girl, one he wasn’t originally planning on stopping for until she spoke to him. He turned to look at her and took in her appearance for a second. “Assuming you mean the feeling of intoxication, love, you may want to wait a few hours. And possibly sleep.” Wait, was Kol being… helpful? He had to remedy that. “Or potentially don’t drink so much and you wouldn’t be in this predicament.” There, snark, that was better.
THAT WAS THE LAST THING DAVINA WANTED TO HEAR . after all , the party was still raging on and how would she explain this to marcel ? as much as she hated to admit it , both her guardian and this stranger were right –––– she should not have drunk so much . glassy green eyes slowly trailed upward from the ground the the source of the snide comment , annoyance still making itself present despite her drunken state . “ isn’t coffee supposed to help or something ? i ... ” the brunette felt embarrassed and weak , entirely small and insecure . her voice was low in an effort to disguise her words , “ i’ve never been drunk before and i don’t ... i don’t like it . ”
DAVINA WAS COMPLETELY CLUELESS WHEN IT CAME TO HER TOLERANCE , after all she’d had very little experience with alcohol prior to the party . it was in the brunette’s best interest to stay away from booze to best keep her mind clear in case of supernatural - emergency , but who was she to miss out on what could’ve been the biggest party of the year ? it started with a few beers that wrinkled her nose , though it soon turned to amber liquid that burned her throat . tipsiness was warm & fun , but this ? it wasn’t something she wanted by any means . if marcel could see her now , he would probably want to find a new attic for her to live in . as for now , she needed to get out of that crowded place and catch a breath of fresh air . the brunette remained close to the wall as she moved toward the front door , practically requiring it for support while she passed other party - goers who were clearly far more experienced . davina wasted no time in plopping down on the front steps and hugging her knee to her chest , only lifting her head as she felt someone else’s presence . “ when does this feeling wear off ? ”

“fair point what about you? are you having fun?” she questioned as her eyes gazed down at the other girls drink that looked as if it had been barely, if even at all, before looking at davina once more. “well i wouldn’t exactly say it was on this level, i mean this is pretty…” her words trailed off as she looked at her surroundings, trying to find the right word but ultimately coming up blank. giving a wave of her hand, the bennett witch gave a shrug as her eyes fell back on the brunette. “ um…i guess next level you could say. but regardless it’s not always about the place but rather the people…which sounds totally corny now that i say it out loud but i’m sure you get the point.” she said with a chuckle.
IT TOOK EVERYTHING IN THE PETITE GIRL TO HOLD IN HER SIGH , though in truth it would probably go unnoticed thanks to the loud bass from whatever song was blaring . she was having a good time , as good of a time that was safest for her . damn these rules & damn marcel for implementing them . but where was marcel ? certainly not here . maybe she could have some real fun after all . “ this is my first party , so i’m kinda ... lost ? i should start by drinking some of this , huh ? ” the witch held up her cup before bringing it to her lips , brows furrowed as she took a long sip . yuck . “ elena & caroline –––– ” davina began as she scanned the crowd for the aforementioned girls , “ did you guys used to come to parties a lot ? ”
