A demiromantic person is somebody who is incapable of experiencing romantic attraction until they have formed a close emotional bond with somebody. This close emotional bond is similar to the emotional connection one would have with a best friend. Meaning that there is a level of trust and comfortableness between two people in which one can share secrets and things which are very dear to their heart with another without worrying about being judged. Though, this close emotional bond does not guarantee romantic attraction. It only creates the possibility for romantic attraction to occur. I like to compare the close emotional bond to a key which is in a lock. The key makes it possible to open the door but it does not automatically turn just by existing.
