I just like to think that the Hellsings have fae blood in the line and that helps them with the alchemy/magic binding Alucard to them.
It also gives me an excuse to believe that is why Integra inherited the blond hair/blue eyes despite the fact that, given that fannon believes her mom to be of Indian descent, those genes would be recessive.
And also why she wears gloves all the time, because maybe she basically breaks out in something similar to an allergic reaction if she touches iron directly.
